Re: This is just wrong...

Politics as usual? If, between 1992 and 2000, a group..., let's say anti-abortionists..., who were favored during the Reagan years had a little gathering/fundraiser, would that be disturbing...? Okay, YEAH, maybe it would, but would it be surprising???

OR..., are you saying because a handful of the guests at this shindig are going to have been actual players in the previous administration. Even that doesn't seem unusual. Rummy's been a political player since Nixon, along with a lot of other Bush appointees. Karl Rove was actually fired by Bush, Sr. Plus a lot of these guys share college and frat connections, and church groups. Inside politics will always be inside. That's how the Royals of Europe got so inbred.

Re: This is just wrong...

How many of them went to "I Hate Clinton" rallies though? Pardon the lapse into melodrama, but it feels more like a rebellion than a protest...

And it's not just some of the guest, it's some of the key members. Why if this had happened ten years ago the president would of gotten their FBI files or had the IRS audit them! Oh, wait...

Tell me something Taxman. Do you "hate" abortionists? No, scratch that.... do you "hate" ANYONE? Because if you do, you have your own reasons, no matter what they are or who you "hate."

Love is in the eyes of the beholder.... and so is "hate." It's just a personal thing. Your personal feelings are your right as a human being to feel that way. Are you saying that you can "hate" anyone as long as it isn't the POTUS?

Re: This is just wrong...

I can't say that I hate little Bush, but I do hate what he has done to America. Of course that is just my opinion, which I am allowed to have as are these people.

Re: This is just wrong...

now, I would describe your comment "little Bush" as bordering on inflammatory. Whether or not it's about someone with whom I agree politically or not.

Notice I haven't said "ARAIPOTUS" (which isn't inflammatory, it's an accurate statement) since the new board came back?

And what, in your opinion has GWB "done to America"? Prevent any more 9/11 attacks? Brought us out of a recession, and into the strongest economic quarter in 20+ years? Liberated over 20 million people? Removed two horrible, oppresive governments from power?

brrr... awful.

Re: This is just wrong...

1. War or whatever its called now, that is killing our young men and women!(Please don't say its for humanitarian reasons, their are other leaders that are bad too but the US just happens to do business with them so I guess its OK to be rotten to your people then).

2. The administrations stand on abortion.

3. The way Ashcroft handled the Patriot Act and the invasion of American citizens. (If you are not a citizen you have no rights anymore, they can lock you up and you don't even get to have an attorney)

4. The lack of respect that has been shown to our servicemen and women (woo hoo, serve me some turkey)by our government, private citizens have given more than our government to the families.

5. Where are the jobs?

I know I could go on, but my eye hurts, as I have said these are my opinions and are not up for debate, you don't have to like them or agree with them.

I wasn't talking about Bushs brain when I said little, so what is inflammatory about it?

Re: This is just wrong...

I hate to break it to you, bradedit..

what is said on these boards aren't up to you as to whether they're "up for debate" or not.

What's said may or may not change your opinions.. that is what's up to you.

1. It is a war.. It's called the "War on Terrorism". It's tragic it's killing our troops, but that's what happens in war. It's also the only way to prevent more attacks on our cities.

2. This topic has been discussed time and time again.. no comment.

3. "The invasion of American citizens?" What were we invaded with? the flu? I'm not an American citizen, and as long as I don't plan on unleashing any attacks, I'm left alone.

4. It took 17 hours to fly across the world, and land in the middle of the night, on an unlit runway without landing lights. The troops greatly appreciated it. (I've read more than one email from Iraqi troops that were there, and they loved the fact he came over. It was a great moral booster.)

5. They're back. Unemployment rates have been declining steadily for months. Jobs are always the last to return in a recovery. Which is what we're in the middle of. Last quarter's economy grew at 8.2%, which is the highest since Reagan was President.

I'm sorry about your eye.. It sucks when your eyes hurt. I hope you recover soon.

I know you mean "little" as in GHWB's son. I still found it disrespectful. That, is just my opinion.

I understand your opinions are not up for debate, so I'm just replying with my opinions. Please debate mine if you want. That's what this board is for afterall.

So if we don't attack all the bad guys we shouldn't attack any? Everyone with a little common sense can see that we're obviously going to do what's best for our country. In what order would you like to see the bad guys destroyed?

I agree. Everyone should have the right to kill their own unborn baby. [/ sarcasm]

Generalizations about the Patriot Act tell us you don't know anything about it. It's not as black and white as you're suggesting. Yes, there are circumstances where your scenario may fit, it's not the norm.

I love this. What else should he have done that day? What did you want him to do? What could he have done to earn your respect for him that day instead of your contempt?

5. Where are the jobs?
Apparently they're coming back slowly. Were you expecting them to come back overnight? How many jobs need to be created a month for you to change your opinion on the economy?

Re: This is just wrong...

why are you being sarcastic? Isn't that the whole reason why we come to this board??

by the way.. In all sincerity, thanks for posting your opinions.. I do enjoy a serious discussion about these things.

A common tactic people use when confronted with information they can't respond to is to try and refocus the debate into something it's not.

Kind of like this post.

So are you so entrenched in your opinions that there is no room for change at all?

For me, I am open minded enough to be able to discuss things and possible change my opinion depending on the information i get.

Are you?
