| The problem with American news.... We live in a society where all day coverage of Michael Jackson is more important than a bombing in turkey. Frankly I care more about a bombing in Turkey then I do about seeing Michael Jackson walk in handcuffs into the police station. Honestly. I don't give a ---- about celebrities and I am sick of them making it onto the news. How do all these news outlets - CNN, MSNBC, Fox - expect to have ANY sort of credibility when they spend literally all day covering this story? And what's more, why do people CARE? I know it's all about ratings, but why do we allow them to even get ratings when they cover non-news like this. Blah, sorry I am just ranting. I just think news these days is RIDICULOUS.

| Re: The problem with American news.... You know, now that I am a SAHM and watch an extraordinary amount of tv these days, I have to agree with you. I remember the old journalism saw though....the farther away a story is, the more people have to die for it to be a story. All I can say is that sometimes I get tired of watching the news and enjoy watching some fluff. For the next three weeks, news and magazines will be covering "Trista and Ryan's Wedding" since it will be aired over the next 3 weeks on ABC. Is there anyone who doesn't know who Trista and Ryan is? I doubt it. Sad but true.

| Re: The problem with American news.... Sean Hannity has this thing on his show where they go out to the street and ask people at random questions most people ought to know. Yesterday, they held up different pictures.. Vice-President Dick Cheney, Condoleeza Rice, President Bush, Colin Powell, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. They asked about 10 different people, and only one got all of them. A teacher. All the rest got the celebrities, but missed most of the rest. Truly pathetic.
