Amazing Race 2 Contest Ideas?

Ok... I thought I'd get suggestions for ideas, instead of just deciding the rules for the contest myself.

Post away, I'm open to suggestions.

Why don't we get points for picking who will be eliminated each week ??
Then we could also pick an ultimate winner and get points each week so long as that team stays in the race.
Much the same as Pandybat ran the Survivor game.
I am so looking forward to these games. Thanks to all the willing people who run it for us.

Makes sense to me ... points for the weekly boot-ee and points for every week your pick for the winner stays in! I like it...but, it's up to you PHReD - you are the boss!!!!!!!!

Are you going to be mean like Sandy (LOL), if your pick for the winner gets booted early you won't get to pick a new one?

We are not starting The Survivor Contest until the second show.

How about for the Amazing Race we go ahead and choose the pair we think will get eliminated on the first show. We could just choose a pair from the bio information on the website. See if any of us get it right!


One thing I thought of : A pair isn't always eliminated every week. If no pair is eliminated will we carry our choice to the next week or will we be able to change it?

That sounds like a good idea Hattielee . The bios tell you enough to make an educated guess.
Hey did anyone see that the No Boundaries Race is going to be in Canada and that at least four of them are Canadians? I'm excited about that show too.

How about something like this?

You pick who you think the ultimate winners will be.
You pick who you think will get eliminated/come in last (for weeks that no one gets eliminated).
You can change your winners each week, regardless of if your team got eliminated or not.
HOWEVER, the longer you keep the same team, the more points you get. The first week you have that team, you get 1 point if they don't get cut, if you keep the same team, and they're still in it the next week, you get 2 points, the third week, 4 points, the fourth week, 8 points, etc. That way, if you pick the winner right off the bat, and don't switch... you have a big advantage over someone who picks them half way through.
If your winners come in last for a week that no one is eliminated, you get 0 points for that week, and you start back over at 1 the next week (not your total points, just how many you'll get if they don't get cut).
You get 2 points for picking who gets eliminated/comes in last each week as well.
At the end, each point will be one entry, and there will be a random drawing as to who wins the 5,000 cent Amazon Gift Certificate.

The deadline will be midnight EST, the night before the show. So, Sunday, March 10th by midnight, for your first picks.
Also since I'm such a swell guy, if I do not receive an email from you (or the email is after midnight the night before), I will use your two previous answers for the current week! You can't beat that, now can ya'??

I think that's about it, besides the fact that I should mention any Amazon Gift Certificates you send me, will be worth 3 points per dollar (Mayor, you didn't see that)

I will post who everyone thinks will win, who they think will lose, how many weeks they've had that winner selected, and total points.

Ok, 1 more rule.
If your "winner" gets eliminated/comes in last you get -2 points. But you can't go below 0 points.

If for whatever reason you decide to pick the same winner and loser in one week, then you won't get the penalty, you'll get +2 points for picking who got eliminated.


which also means this should now read like this...

Phred, I am happy you are willing to run this contest. You have such a crazy sense of humor that it will be even more fun.
However, my impression of the rules you are considering is that it is too complicated to keep track of, and may cause you misery before all is said and done. I cannot imagine keeping track of how many weeks each of us has stuck with a certain prediction. My advice: simplify, simplyfy, simplyfy....
