Cool Survivor discussion thread

I thought I'd start a thread for discussing the show, that contest thread is a lot to scroll through! I recommend you don't read these posts yet if you haven't seen the current episode.

I didn't like the beginning of last night's episode at all with the natives. Seemed to take up way too much time and didn't make much sense. JMHO!

There must have a lot going on behind the scenes because I was surprised to see Brook go. I thought for sure it would be Chris or Rory. Oh well, usually takes a few episodes to get to know everybody anyway.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I just watched the show. I agree with everything you wrote Sandal. I was surprised to see Brook go. I thought it would end up being unanimous for Chris to go. Goes to show you never know what will happen...

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I found the premiere to be pretty...boring. Other seasons to have made a much bigger deal - this wasn't even 90 minutes long! The thing with the natives was kind of boring and didn't add much to the show, IMO.

Even the challenge wasn't that great...just seemed to be the same from previous seasons, just a bunch of parts stuck together. Would have liked to see something new.

This is just my opinion though, feel free to disagree.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I thought it was suppose to be two hours long? I am sure thats how I heard it advertised. I was disappointed, had no connection with the characters, and didn't even know who Brooke was before he got voted off. The beginning was boring and gimicy, I am sad to say, imo.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

Too short. Not enough "character development" I feel certain it will get better as we get to know the personalities and can start having favorites and those we love to hate.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I could be wrong but weren't the older guys talking about who to vote off and they said they needed to get rid of the strong ones and mentioned I believe JP but said they needed to keep him because he seemed to be making some headway in terms of making fire. They then mentioned Brook as someone they should get rid of.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

Yes....Juliet....that is exactly what I remember too. I still thought it would be a unanimous vote for Chris though. Poor Brook.

Was the final vote 5-3-1? I guess I'll have to check the website. I don't remember who voted for Rory either.

According to the website Brady voted for Rory, Brook and John K voted for Chris and everyone else voted for Brook.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

Right now I think they made a good choice. The older guys would not want the young ones picking them off. There did not seem to be a weak one so maybe they just picked an annoying one. LOL It does take a couple of weeks to get back into the game and learn about all the people so I will give it time.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I guess I'm the only one who wasn't bored. I thought showing the ceremony/culture of the island was interesting and respectful to the islanders.
I agree there could have been more character developement, but it always seems it takes a few episodes to get to know the people.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I did not say I was bored. LOL
Just that it was too short. I wanted to get more of an idea what everyone was like, and now I have to wait 3 weeks.
I thought the ceremony was fine. I liked the way they had to find their way to camp in the dark and it did give us some insight into the various personalities. The mens vote also gave us some idea of the way future votes may go.
Why do we always have a group of 3 or 4 younger women who act foolish? Gives our younger generation a bad "REP". I know my 22 year old daughter would pitch in at the camp better than they do. "Taking a break"- - -give me a break. Lazy more like it.
It also appeared to me that the older men in this Survivor have watched some of the previous Survivors and want to avoid a Colby or a Rob situation.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

I liked the ceremony where the native people met them. I think it would have been quite intimidating though.I was amused when Rory said that everyone was getting prodded except him. I too thought that Chris would be the one sent home as I didn't see any reason that Brook had annoyed them. Way to go women, they really came on strong. but I feel that my choice of Scout as one of my winners may have been a mistake.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

That one girl, Eliza, was getting on my nerves already. She wouldn't shut up. I enjoyed the first show, but wanted to see more. I was surprised Brook got voted out.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

A good show last night. I'm sorry that the women didn't do better in the immunity challenge.I'll have to admit that I am pulling for them. Voting Dolly off was a surprise as she seemed to be getting along with everyone. But perhaps that was the problem, that she wasn't making a commitment to any one group. Why is it that the older ones seem to be the hardest workers? Maybe they realize that this may be the only reason that the younger ones keep them around.

Re: Survivor discussion thread

It was a good show last nigh. I knew the women would win the reward. Seems like men just can't walk on balance beams. I would have liked to see the men lose immunity and get rid of Rory, he is annoying too.
