Amazing Race 5 Contest

This season's contest will be very simple and the prize for the highest scoring entrant will be a $10 gc of my choice.

Rules:
1. After you have checked out the web-site and watched the first 90 minute episode which will be 9:30PM ET/PT, Tuesday July 6th., choose 3 of the teams that you think will do well in The Amazing Race this season.
Deadline for your choices will be 12 NOON EST the day of the 2nd shows airing.
No reminders will be posted or e-mailed because I have a limited amount of time to do this contest.
2. You must pick at least one all-female team OR one team with at least one member over 40 years of age as part of your 3 teams. The other 2 teams may be ANY of the teams.
3. Points will be awarded as follows, for every week of the show up to and including the show that gets the total number of teams down to 5:
a. 1 point for each of your teams that is not eliminated each week.
b. 1 point if one of your teams wins the fast forward any week.
c. 3 points if one of your teams comes in first any week. (they may use the fast forward to do so and it still counts)
d. 2 points if one of your teams comes in second any week.
e. 1 point if one of your teams comes in third any week.
f. 1 point if one of your teams forces another team to yield any week.
4. Points will be awarded as follows for the rest of Amazing Race:
a. 1 point for each of your teams that survives each week.
b. 1 point if your team finishes first any week. (including the ultimate winning team)
c. 1 point if your team uses the fast forward or forces another team to yield.
5. If any of your 3 original teams is eliminated you may:
Give up 3 points from your accumulated score and replace that team OR you may continue in the contest with just two teams. If your team for rule #2 is eliminated and you choose to replace it, the replacement team must also meet rule #2 requirements (i.e. all-female or with a member over 40 years of age)
6. You may continue in the game as long as you have at least one team with the potential to win you points.
7. You may not change a team unless it has been eliminated.
8. You may post comments on the contest thread this time around. We will have just this one thread.
9. No bonus questions.
10. No rule changes unless the show does something VERY different that triggers a rule change. (note: scoring rules 3f and 4c have been added because of a change in this seasons Amazing Race. Additional rule #14 was added because too many of our choices were the same this time)
11. You may enter a 3 team squad at any time during the contest, but you maximize your point chances by submitting your team by the first deadline.

13. I am flexible about deadlines if you have a very good reason, but I appreciate punctuality as it makes running the contest much easier.
14. Additional points available: Pick a team each week that you think will EITHER fall the farthest down the leaderboard or make the greatest improvement up the leaderboard. You will score 1 additional point if you predict correctly. You may not choose more than 1 team so label it fall behind or improve when you send me your guess. If you are not able to do this every week I will use your previous guess whenever possible. Wow! I was on the edge of my seat the whole show. Already there are some pairs that you want to hate, don't you think?

Yes it was a surprising show.I had my picks decided on, before the show but now I've decided to make a few adjustments. Much as I hate to do it, I am going to choose a team that I don't like . As you say there is usually one team that you love to hate.

Great show!! I must say that Alison has certainly learned how to master the camera...she got A LOT of airtime last night. I am not really rooting for her and Donny but I do think that they will do well (because of her mainly.)

I like the fact that the airport ticket distribution has been mixed up....now you never know what flight is necessarily the best.

Is the fast forward gone? I am not sure about the new yield thing. Although that will certainly come in handy if two teams are in last place battling for the finish. More non-elimination rounds than normal (used to be 3 per season, right? now it is 5), I am intersted to see what happens when a team finishes last in a non-elimination round. Phil made it sound none too pleasant.

Note to all contestants in our Amazing Race contest: Because of the addition of the yield factor this Amazing Race I have added rule 3f and 4c in the contest rules above.

And...

Due to our guesses being very similar this contest I have added rule #14 which will require a weekly guess on your part. This is something I had hoped to avoid as we all have very busy lives during the summer months. My suggestion is that you submit your guess for #14 as soon as possible after each episode airs. That will get it taken care of. Maybe you could do it when you come to this site to post your comments. Just e-mail me your response for rule #14 if you have already submitted your guesses. I am unable to send individual reminders as my life is crazy right now with so much to do in the garden and so many hours at work.

Same here! I wrote a list of teams at the beginning that I thought had potential and almost all came in near the end!

Well I don't feel too dumb for choosing Allison & Donny since just about everyone did!

Totally impressed with Charla & Mirna and glad I picked them as one of my teams!
