Discussion of Amazing Race Episode 5

Starting this thread early. I want to mention that if you are on the west coast you do not want to look at this thread until after you see the show. Those of us who live in the Eastern Time Zone get the show alot earlier than you do, and I often hop on here to make a comment before I go to bed. My hours are pretty crazy, as I get up for work at 4 AM EST, which is around midnight for some of you.

As for tonights show, I am really anxious to see who the 4 teams are that get in trouble with their cars. I am pretty sure Aaron and Arrianne and Teri and Ian are two of them, as they mentioned last week that they made mistakes with the fueling of the cars. Two more? Who knows?

And how bad is Flo's panic on the cliff? Bad enough to keep her form completing the task?

bonniejeanne is welcome here
It also showed Flo and Zach definitely having trouble last week, and showed Michael and Kathy but you couldn't definitely tell with them. But they did end up being the other team in trouble. I couldn't believe how dumb Michael was. They really gave up the race by staying in that hotel overnight. I couldn't believe at how bright Ian was. Even though I can't stand him, he sure did good at fixing the car and rapelling down that cliff. I thought it was hilarious when Ian told Teri that her pack was unzipped and she told him to "zip it." I bet she'd like to tell him that more often.

I agree that Ian is the type of man you would hate to be married to but he came through tonight. I was beginning to think that my ultimate pick for winners didn't have a chance but they seem to be doing better at last.
I still wish that I had picked Ken and Gerard. I really like them.
I'm glad to see hopeless ,helpless Michael out of the game. I can't believe that Kathy decided to move to be with such a wimp.

Ian has a lot of irritating personality characteristics, but I do not think there is another person in the game who would have the smarts and know-how to correct the fuel problem as he did. He would drive me crazy ( as my own perfectionist hubby of 30 years often does) but I have to say I do respect his initiative and creativity when faced with a problem.
Aaron and Arrianne had given up and they simply lucked out. Michael and Kathy gave up and got a good nights sleep.
Who surprised me the most? Andre and Damon are doing better and better. I have gone from thinking they would be a great team before the show, to great disappointment in their abilities and attitudes, and back to thinking they are a great team. All three all-male teams look good now.

This year's "Race" is certainly more full of twists and turns! I love it.

You do have to give Ian some credit on handling that situation, BUT, he caused it and sure remained calm when it was HIS fault.

Can't believe how many filled their cars with unleaded - they sure do assume alot.

Looks like my ultimate winner pick is on really thin ice now, LOL - those two are a bit of a disappointment - quit your whining and get on with it...it ain't over til it's over!!!

Damon/Andre have surprised me too...they actually took a SHORTCUT this time, WOW. I thought before the beginning of the show they would do well, then I thought, oh brother, they don't have a chance and now they are in second place, what a switcharoo.

I just love Ken/Gerard...they just keep growing on me, what a fun pair they are!

Boo Hoo! No Amazing Race next week. CMA Awards instead.

Ian may have salvaged the situation he caused, but I shudder to think what would have happened if it had been Teri's mistake!

Ken and Gerard are great! Ken rappeling down that cliff- Wow!Totally unexpected!

I may regret my Ultimate pick (Flo/Zack) if Flo doesn't stop whining. Zack is a saint, not losing his temper.

What will we do without an episode next week!!!!!!

rafala is becoming one of the familyrafala is becoming one of the family
no show next week??? oh no I hadnt seen that arggghhhh what will we do????

I think Aaron and Flo need to team up and quite the game the two of them are whiney, cry babies. I couldnt beleive how freaked out flo got about the cliff. she had done the hard part getting over the edge, just go down!!!

I love the chubby brother going down the cliff. the other one calling up "pretend there are a dozen donuts down here for you", hee hee hee too good

Ian really gets me mad!!!! and did you see teri's excited face when ian fixed the fuel problem. she looked like he was the wisest, smartest, best man around. NOT!!!!! there would have been **** to pay if teri had put the wrong fuel in. even when she was quesitoning him about the diesel and he annoyingly answered "it was clearly marked!" and then acted like a dog with his tail between his legs when she said i mean should the car have taken diesel??? and he was like he hadnt thought of that

I was kinda surprised that michael and kathy just gave up and spent the night in a hotel but, they figured they were out of it might as well go out high, just like andrew and the dad did with the limo.

no one seems to be looking at the fast forward anymore??? that might getting interesting in a few shows when they think they need to get to the front and make up some big time before the ending. remember both brother teams have used them already!!!

does anyone know how long the filming of this show takes? I was thinking they could be cranky because they are out there so long and doing all this work but then i thought this might only be a 2 week jaunt of tons of travelling??? anyone know how long they are going??? are they allowed to come home when they are eliminated or do they have to stay around somewhere else???? Havent really thought of the legistics of this show before. I know with survivor they are there for 31 days (or something like that ) and if kicked out they have to stay around the whole time.

bummed about next weeks show, maybe they will show it another night????
