I need computer help

Hi, My computer has been just shutting down all by itself, I have put in in my recovery disc and I still have the problem. I have even deleted each program 1 by 1...This started about 3 weeks ago but, My anti-virus program says nothing is wrong...when it does shut down, and re-boots it says invalid entries and also that some have been truncated..whats wrong

What Operating System is it?

Your best is to format, get your Windows install CD/DVD and start from scratch.

I'm running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 w/sp2, I have a wireless G router for my daughters computer, It's a Intel pentium 3 processor, running AVG anti-virus...I hope this is enough info that could help help. btw I dont have the disc you are referring to all I have is the 2 recovery discs that removes EVERYTHING off my computer except for the very basics...and yes It's an old computer by todays standards. THANK YOU for trying to help out

Try doing a system restore and choose a date BEFORE it started messing up.

Plain antivirus can not find trojans, spyware and malware. Try a-squared and Spybot Search & Destroy.
