Decorating advice needed!

I am SO NOT an interior decorator. We just moved into a new house and I need some color advice. We have a speckled beigy/tan carpeting and a chocolate brown couch. We've got a ton of brown going on in our living room, but I plan to do one wall in a maroon-y color. I don't think it would be a good idea to have brown curtains, too, but I'm at a loss as to what color would be best. The wall with the curtain won't be the maroon color, so I suppose I could find something in that color family...can anyone help me find some nice curtains/drapes for a big window in a maroon (or other color of your suggestion)?

Are you going for subtle tones? Well I think that would be best. You could try a light yellow for the curtains. It's a good contrast with the maroon walls and tan carpets. Don't pick the bright yellows though. Get the soft yellows, the ones that are soothing for the eyes. I'm not sure what specific color they are but you'll know when you see it.

Are you interested in getting printed curtains? Maybe you can get ones with plaid or checkered designs.
