Have anyone heard if the elderly who are on social security and don't normally file taxes yearly, do you have to file this year in order to get the tax rebate? The news is not real clear on this, they just say social security drawers and disabled vets will get it. Has anyone heard whether or not they have to file this year in order to get the rebate?

Yes, you do. I recently looked the info on the rebates up at [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]. It said you will not receive a rebate if you do not file a return. Go look at the site; it's very informative.

yes people on disability social security who have received a 3,000 dollars or more qualify for the rebate check. you can get 300.00 dollars. you have to file a 1040A form or a 1040 form. For the people who can file they will soon get a packet from the social security office explaining what to do.

I've been unemployed for a couple of years and i couldn't apply because i would have had to apply in 2007 as a dependent on my mothers taxs or if i had a spouce.
