Re: anyone with young kids help please

No young ones, (except grandbabies) but certainly experienced! ha Oh my, she is nearly four years old? If the doctor says there is no problem at all, I certainly understand your frustration. They won't allow her in school will they if she isn't potty trained? If there is some thing she likes to do (a lot) or some where she likes to go, maybe you could coax her with, 'if you potty three times today we will go to the zoo'...What about school is she looking forward to it (since older sisters are in school right)? Maybe you could use that too, 'you cannot go to school unless you potty"? Man, I feel for you honey, this is a difficult situation. What does she do when her pants are needing changing? Does she tell you? If no diaper rash trouble, maybe not be so prompt to change her if it is uncomfortable for her? I'll think some more on this and reply again if I can think of anything else.......

with both of my kids we just took the diapers off and let them run around the house bare bottomed on weekends and left the potty chair out and hoped they would be ashamed to potty on the floor. worked with both of them. but no scolding if they had an accident just lots of praise when they used the potty
good luck

Re: anyone with young kids help please

I'd forgotten something we did. ''The potty dance'' whenever there was success, we'd make a HUGE deal about it, and sing a silly song we made up (complete with clapping and silly dancing) ''So and So went potty, such a big girl, so and so went potty, " all while we danced around like goof balls, but the kids (of course) thought it was a noteworthy preformance, and if anyone forgot they were immediately reminded by the child, 'do the potty dance mama/daddy'...it was fun, and I really think it helped! If we were having a family gathering everyone had to do the potty dance too! Hope that helps!

Re: anyone with young kids help please

well we got her this potty that plays music if she goes and "flushes" it.. it worked for about 20 minutes .. she wants to go into dance so i tried to use that idea and told her you cant go unless you use the potty again it lasted for about 20 minutes... just nothing works.. i try not to change her right awya if shes had a bm because she doesnt get rashes but shes started to hide out in her room now when she goes.. so i think i kinda took a step back with that one .. not to mention her sisters wouldent play in the room because it smelled bad lol so .. i put a potty seat in the living room bathroom and her room and just said please be a big girl and save mommy her sanity and go like a big girl.. so i pray to god she starts soon... i tried pullups again but like before she peed through them .. i also tried cloth diapers my mom said those are better because they dont lock the wetness away .. so now with my laundry bill up and three potty chairs LOLOL hopefully shell start and beable to go to dance class with her big sisters lol wish us luck and thanks so much for all the help

Have you tried bringing her to the store and letting her pick out new underware (get a couple packages) and let her wear them. If she wets/dirty's them put another pair on. I know it can be a hassle with a bunch of wet/dirty underware but give it a week and see what happens. I did this with my DD, not sure if it took one or two weeks and she was potty trained. "When this package of diapers is gone you'll have to wear big girl underwear. What would be a good motivator for her-a small piece of candy when she goes on the toilet-I know it is not the best option but hey-desperate times call for desperate measures! Hope this helps. I didn't have to deal with potty training issues-but did have to deal with my DS not sleeping in his own bed-it can be frustrating when nothing seems to work! It will come though
*I didn't read your first post-sorry for some duplicate info Have you talked with her-asked her why she doesn't want to use the toilet?

Re: anyone with young kids help please

We are have a potty-bank. I have to put pennies in it everytime youngest uses the potty. The pennies get her a potty prize on good days.Day 1, a prize=1 penny, day 2 it costs 2 pennies=prize, stay at that rate for 3 days, then up it to 3 pennies=prize.Keep it up till it is all morning/ without an opps=prize(where we are now, that us week 3).Our next step is all day=prize.Youngest is almost 3.We stopped buying pretty diapers an found a cheap store brand she does not like as much as her pampers.(she still gets those at night)
Her next older sister(Miss Stuborn) now 6 did not train till 4.5. So we are trying earlier this time.I was just frustrated last time when another Mom at ToyRus told me about the potty-bank.She told me to relax and that all else fails since her Doc said she was healthy take her to pre-school.The pre-school near us puts those still in diapers in the classroom next to the babies.Big-kids room has cooler toys and with glass walls they can see this.
My oldest two were very easy to train. My son it was more aiming issues than stuborness.Sending hugs

Re: anyone with young kids help please

If you go back to pull-ups get the over-night ones since she can pee through the day ones. Also we change bm diapers right away but leave her wet longer than I would have before.

Re: anyone with young kids help please

well again thank you for the advice.. she has actually started to show some interest now in going like a big girl.. key word some lol... because of two things... her two older sisters dance slasses started up and she wants to dance too and well they cant dance if they are in diapers so.. we took her with and showed her the slass she could be in and that prompted her desire and we are trying to keep it going now with the potty bank idea... only we decided to use chucky cheese tokens... they have this barney game she goes nuts for lol and its helping that was a great idea thank you so much... shes going about 1 out of three times on the potty seat.. which doesnt sound like much but omg it is a big differance... i found that its easyer to get her to go if me or one of her sisters goes potty at the same time with her ... so a little frustration has been lifted ! in case anyone has a chucky cheese around them .. they have these reward things you can print out and use for like 10 free tokens or something like that.... for homeowrk good doctor visits potty training and such its pretty cool... we use them and let me tell ya getting homework done around here is no longer a "this is boring i want to watch tv i want to go play" issue lol but yes anyways pardom my ramblings here ... some success has come our way with this thank you so much !!

Re: anyone with young kids help please

yeah the chucky cheese thing all you do is print them out and then bring them in .. i think you have to make a food purchase though.. i didnt go with to use them for the first time i was sick but good deal none the less... and we have complete success !!!! she used the potty everytime now !!!! i mean shes had a few accidents but i mean thats to be expected.. we got her her first pack of dora panties and everything shes doing so good!! i think she realizes it feels alot better not to be in a diaper so yay !! as she would say shes a big girl not a baby anymore... and to help keep her feeling that way about herself we are getting her a twin "big girl" bed like her sisters have no more toddler bed im so proud of her
