| Re: AHH! I'm going to throw Tivo out the window!!! Hi KittyMom! I just did an Google search and typed in "How to set up TIVO" The search provided their home site page at the very top; which has the Setup and Support information link, under Top Requested Support Articles: "How do I set up my TIVO DVR?" ---> for Series 2, Series 2 DT and Series 3 HD. Hope this helps. ![]() |

| Re: AHH! I'm going to throw Tivo out the window!!! if you want to use the wireless adapter that comes with it you'll need a wireless router also (get that from newegg.com and linksys is the best); however, you can also set it up via a telephone jack (i think it includes the necessary cable for the)

| Re: AHH! I'm going to throw Tivo out the window!!! I'm sorry Kitty Mom, I have no suggestions for you. I received a Tivo for Christmas 2 years ago and set up was really easy for me. Is the issue because you don't have a land line to plug it into, so you are trying to route it through a cable modem or other high speed internet?

| Re: AHH! I'm going to throw Tivo out the window!!! if you have a cable modem, then best thing to do is purchase a wireless router, or a simple hub. Method: Router - ethernet cable from the cable modem box to the router, then ethernet cable from router to your computer (so you still get internet, and you can also go wireless now with your wifi enabled laptop or via an adapter in your desktop computer) then turn on the tv with the wireless adapter included plugged in. it should detect your interenet connection and settings automatically. Hub - ethernet cable from cable modem box to hub, then ethernet cable from hub to your computer, then really long cable from hub to tivo box. Both the router and the hub are very similar, the only thing you need to decided is whether or not you want a wireless connection or a cabled connection. If run into problems during the setup let me know.

| Re: AHH! I'm going to throw Tivo out the window!!! My wife and I got a Tivo last year, and it has been one of the BEST things that we have ever purchases. We hate commercials, and wasting time. We love it. In fact, we are probably going to buy another one for our other tv. As with anything, it can be difficult setting up for the first time. Here is what I remember though. The only equipment that we have are: the Tivo box, the Tivo adapter (price was about $70), internet access and cable tv. The Tivo adapter was the way we wanted to go, instead of hooking up our phone line. From what I remember, it wasn't really hard to set up. I'm not sure if your having trouble setting up the physical parts of the Tivo (box, cables, connections, etc.) or the set up of the menu's and such when the Tivo is all hooked up. Hope this helps. Good luck. By the way, our Tivo adapter wirelessly connected to our AT&T internet router. This router is called a 2Wire router, and will hook up wirelessly with our Tivo adapter. It is awesome. |
