I've used it off and on - have it on my PC just in case I want to dl something. It works nicely, no spam/adware, etc. AFAIK it's safe. Freeware 4.12.6 version

Ver, There are two versions of Limewire, the free one and the paid one - get the free one, it's great. No need to pay. Toby...........ROFL, I thought that AFAIK was another MUSIC site and told Mark about it! DUH... we figured it out, kinda, after looking the AFAIK online, and it told what it meant! Kat the stupid!

Limewire and other file sharing software is legal. Using it to upload or download copyright protected media - music, videos, images, software - without the copyright holder's consent is illegal because it is theft. You can legally download a song for $1-2 or buy a cd for $10-$15. If you have kids and they see what you are doing, how will you explain it to them? Do you tell them it's okay to break the law if lots of other people do it and the probabilty of getting caught is low? I know it won't be popular, but it's just my 2 cents.

I agree with Bigred, my husband is a musician and it's not fair to get the music for free even though there are sites that offer it. It is no different than asking a contractor to come in and do free work at your house, or have an accountant do your taxes for free. The music is the product that is the end result of what the musicians do for a living. I like Itunes as well, it is safe and easy to use and you get a free sample of each song before you buy, many times I like just a single song not the whole album so I can pay $.99 per song rather than pay for the whole album. What I will usually do is pay for and download individual songs I like to my library within Itunes and then burn the songs down onto a mixed CD. It's great I make mixed CD's as gifts for people. I also like the prices-where else can you get a current album for $9.99-nowhere, Walmart charges $13-20 for new releases on CD. |

If you do use Itunes, may I suggest signing up at -- [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

All you have to do is sign up and go through this sight, then click on itunes, or bookmark it and they will give you a percent of your total purchase price back to you. Itunes is at 4.5% I believe right now...anyway, it's worth checking out There are a lot of other retailers that participate in this program as well. I signed up for "MPFree" which lets you earn credits for music by doing surverys, etc. That way, it is not illegal downloading, because the sponsors you visit are paying for your credits. Sometimes all you need to do is give a zipcode or e:mail address. So far I have earned 15 credits and haven't really put any effort into it. Since this isn't the affiliate referral center, I won't post the link, but you can contact me if you're interested, as I would love to have you as a referral.

limewire is great, but lately its been flooded with lots of spam and viruses. i would only download from there if you experienced with file types and their sizes. frostwire is a new d/l program made by the same people as limewire, and its working great for me.
