 UPDATE: Mama2calli & Baby Pierson!!!
Hey Guys, Wanted to give you an update..... I JUST got off the phone with Kath(the first time I've spoken to her, she's an absolute DOLL). She told me that Pierson has had some breathing (lung) difficulties and had to be transferred to a nearby hospital first thing this morning. He has needed anywhere from 15%-100% oxygen They are unsure of what the problem actually is(cause,etc) but it MAY have something to do with the fact that Kath had (has) a cold at the tail end of her prgnancy. Another scenario is that perhaps Pierson's lungs weren't fully developed even though he was full-term. Kath is doing well, she sounds GREAT (what a strong lady!) You hang in there sweetie! This doesn't appear to be a life threatening situation but, nonetheless, you are talking about a 3 day-old baby here. PLEASE let's remember them in our thoughts/prayers! Pierson, you hang in there lil man! Stay strong so you can go home and join your Mommy, Daddy and big sisters Katie & Calli! I don't like seeing sad faces on updates of DOD babies!!!! Congrats Kath on you little boy and keep us updated - I'll say a little prayer that he'll be home soon!

| Finally, an update!
I had an update to post yesterday but I was miserable and tired - I never realized how low our potty was till last night - that, and I stood up too quickly - OUCH! Naomi I am so glad you called me - wish I'd had better news! It was wonderful & comforting to hear your voice on the phone! Pierson was transferred to UCONN in Farmington on Friday morning at around 8 a.m. - I had the option to be transferred as well, but - I would not get a private room, meaning I'd have to share with a newborn and its mommy - not too good for my mental state of being! And there wasn't much I could do, so I opted to stay at NBGH for one last night & get out a day early, on Saturday afternoon. I got discharged - I am on minimal pain meds since the OB on duty wrote out the wrong prescription and the resident felt uncomfortable writing out a full script (dilaudin?) so I am rationing out the meds that I have and calling my ob for more... We went straight to UConn and sat w/Pierson for about 2 hours. The nurse said things were looking up - he was on a special ventillator plus nitric oxide to help open up his blood vessels. Today was much better - he was on his belly and the strength of the ventillator and dosage of nitric oxide had been decreased! And we got to kiss the back of his head...ah, my sweetie... It looks as though he will have to stay there for another week as he is weaned off meds & apparatus, learns how to breathe & eat, but things are looking good (fingers crossed). I do have a pic of him from yesterday which I'll attach - meanwhile PLEASE keep those prayers and good wishes coming - it all helps (look how far he's come!) and it makes me feel good too! Ohhhhhh Kath, Pierson is precious! What a head of hair! Thanks so much for taking the time to give us an update!!! So glad to hear that with each day he is improving and getting stronger. Won't be long now til he's home with you........ You (try to) take care of yourself. Recovering from a C-section is NOT easy especially with the added stress,etc. Holding you in my thoughts & prayers. ((((((HUGS)))))) Naomi
