Please pray for my stepdaughter

Well I took Jamie to doctor today, everything seems fine with the pregnancy, baby is growing and heartbeat is strong. But one of the bloodtests came back abnormal. She is having to have another one done. It is one to tell if the bab y has Down Syndrome or a spinal defect. tHe doctor just thinks it was something wrong with the temp of the blood but she just wants to make sure. Jamie is very upset and scared right now. She is 18 and this is her first baby. She's doing this all alone with just me and her dad helping her out. The baby's dad is a real loser. But any way any prayers or good vibes would bemuch apprciated. I take her tommorrow for the test and will get the results on the 18. Thanks, Cheryl

Thank all of you so much for your kind words and prayers. Yes this is a hard time for her, she is learning how harsh life is and how people really are. She is started to handle this situation well though. My hubby and I got her to start college and will be starting nursing school this winter. We find out next week the results of the blood test they took on Friday. The lab seems to think it was just a mix up in the testing. Most women her age, they say aren't even tested for this cause there is no concern usually with a young mother like her. The doctor wouldn't have had the test ordered again but the father did drugs (acid) a few yrs ago and her doctor says that can affect your offspring. So we are still praying everything is ok. Thanks again guys for just being here and offering kinds words. I know I can come here and share things with ya'll that I can't with my on family. I didn't give birth to Jamie but I've had her since she was nine and I was 23, she feels like my own . And I'm so ex cited about her baby, I can't wait for it to get here. I just pray everday that everything will be ok.

Hang in there I am sure things will be fine. I think someone needs to come up with a better test for that. I have known so many people that have been scared out of their wits only to find out later it was just a false positive test result. My SIL got a positive, then had to take the same test over again, got another positive and then had the amnio before they ruled it out. They say it is all in the timing of the test and of course the timing issue of a pregnancy always includes a little bit of guess work.

Hoping for the best for you but I would try not to worry! I know....easier said then done.

I just read this & will be keeping Jamie and her baby in my prayers! Please try not to worry - I think these tests come back with as many false positives as the real thing. Like twokidsinoneyear said - someone really should come up with a more reliable test! With both of my boys, the test came back postive twice and I had to go in for an amnio to rule out anything.

Please keep us updated - but remember, stress is bad for the baby, so remind Jamie how unreliable that particular blood test is and she is probably worried for nothing.

Prayers on the way for your daughter, the baby and you and your DH. Extra hugs on the way for you and your DH for all your support at this time. So many parents can't seem to offer the support such as you both are, and it makes an already difficult situation that much harder. Please keep us updated when you can. My best to you and yours.
