Sorry to hear this, I hate it when the little ones have to have surgery. But I'm sending prayers your way and I hope all turns out well

Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. Sydney was in surgery for about an hour and a half on Friday. The doctor was very pleased with how the surgery went and she was just an angel beforehand. She got a little tiresome during our 3 hour wait in the pediatrics ward (thank goodness we brought books and they had a tv with PBS!) but she was just wonderful and not scared in the slightest bit. It's very difficult because no matter how simplistically you explain something like this to a little one, they won't fully comprehend. She did have a difficult time coming out of the anesthesia. She didn't want to wake up at all or try to eat or drink anything. Finally around 9:00 p.m. last night she wanted to go potty and DID! Then she drank a sip of 7-up. We were there since 10:00 that morning and it wasn't until after 11:00 p.m. that they discharged her. It was so heartbreaking leaving her to go into surgery and then in the waiting room an orderly came to get me because she woke up screaming for me afterward and I could hear her from the main lobby. She didn't even open her eyes until this morning and they were all crusted over so dh and I spent a half an hour with gauze and sterile water just trying to get all the gunk moistened so she could open them. She was very afraid, but finally did. She actually has double vision right now, but that is what her doctor wanted and now we're just praying her brain kicks in and takes care of the correction itself like it should, otherwise she will have to go back for more surgery in a couple of weeks. We see the doctor again next Thursday and should know more then. Please continue to pray for Sydney. She is doing well today, but still having a difficult time coping with all that has gone on in the last 24 hours. Also, please pray that her brain and eyes will work together to properly align her eyes so that we won't have to go back again for more surgery. Thanks again.

Just an update......we had a post-op appointment this last Thursday and he is very pleased so far. He said right now she is "textbook" but we still need to just watch for a few more weeks to see if her brain kicks in and does its job. Right now one of her eyes is "in" more than the other and the doctor said the brain should pull them "outward" and at one point the images she sees with each eye will be right on top of each other and hopefully the brain will lock it in. So we go back the first week of April to have her checked again. We would appreciate continued prayers for our little munchkin's eyes.
