| Keep my family in your thoughts
My step granddad is in the ICU here in a hospital in Atlanta. He has "septic"- I don't know if I have the spelling right but it is an infection that if I understand it is in every cell of his body and his blood stream. He is 90 and not expected to live through the weekend. The horrible thing is we lost my grandmother suddenly this very day in 1995. We had her funeral in Charleston on Christmas Eve. My poor mom and aunt are freaking out. We all hope for the best but he is very weak and at his age, even the measures they are doing to give him comfort is hurting him. If he dies, he is buried in Charleston and my sis has the first great grand child= 8 months old so this is his first Christmas. Just keep everyone of us in your thoughts as we try to deal with this trying time at a horrible time again for the family. On a good note- I was the angel in the Christmas Pageant tonight- everyone said I was "beautiful." I have never done plays or drama and this was hard but it worked out great! We had a great time and it was a good program that our new preacher wrote. We even used my one of my best friend's baby (3 weeks old and the friend is named Tracy and my DH's ex from high school- how weird is that!) for Jesus and he was awesome! We are doing the program again on Sunday night. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! Traci

Tracir, I am very sorry to hear about your step grandfather. My grandmother too was septic (I had never heard of that at the time!). She died after about two weeks in the hospital - four days before my wedding. I know it is hard, but at that age, sometimes it is just better to let them go. My grandmother had already had two strokes (on affecting each side of her body) and it was hard to see her that way. I hope you can take comfort in the fact that your grandfather lived a long and hopefully good life. I also lost my mom when she was 40 and my stepmother when she was 49. I would have been much happier to have them until they were 84 like my grandmother, but God works in mysterious ways. My prayers are with you. Libby |

Just wanted to update all and let you know that my grandfather passed away this morning. We are having a viewing tomorrow in Atlanta and then a funeral in Charleston over the weekend. Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts. Traci

Tracir, I'm so sorry for your family's loss, but am glad to hear your step granddad is no longer suffering. Here is a poem I came across....I hope it helps to comfort you at this time. God looked around his Garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, he knew you were in pain. And knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw your path was difficult, he closed you tired eyes, He whispered to you "Peace be Thine" and gave you wings to fly. When we saw you sleeping so calm and free of pain, We would not wish you back to earth to suffer once again. You've left us precious memories, your love will be our guide, You live on through your children, you're always by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For part of us went with you on the day God called you home. ~Author unknown
