Prayer Request For My Family

About 7 years ago, my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Within the last year, it has gotten worse. My parents and grandmother decided that it was time to put him in a Nursing Home. He is to the point where he gets disoriented easily and doesn't hardly sleep. They put him in the Nursing Home about 2 weeks ago. I haven't went to see him yet and I feel like I'm a terrible person. I know that I do need to go and visit him but I don't know if I can handle it. You see, I am a very emotional person and I know that I would cry and I don't want him to see me cry because that might upset him and I don't want to do that.
I remember my grandfather when he didn't have the Alzheimer's and the person he used to be and it just tears me up inside. I miss the grandfather he once was and when I think about that I just cry my eyes out. I love my grandfather with all my heart and it just hurts so much to see him go through this.

Prayers going up for your family!
Alzheimer's is a hard diease and it is heartbreaking! I am praying that God gives you the strength to endure so you can visit your grandpa! The only grandpa I knew was my husbands (mine all died before my time) and he was the greatest to me. He suffered from alzheimer's too! It was heartbreaking to watch him and to listen to the things he said. Each visit got better and better. Don't get me wrong they were still hard but it got easier to go. God gave me the strength to go and He will you also!
Just remember that he is still the same person that he was, just now its his turn to need you! Grandpa thought I was one of his kids and that was fine by me, he would look me in the eyes and say yep you are one of mine.
They said that grandpa couldn't remember people......they were wrong. I would rub his feet and legs with lotion (he loved that) everyday or other day. Well something came up and I couldn't get in to see him, when I finally did he looked me right in the eyes and said you haven't done that for a long time. I just bowed my head and thanked God and shed a silent tear! If you have to cry so be it, but go see him as soon as you can!
