Prayer Request - Our Aunt

Hi,
I thought long and hard about writing this about a month ago, and decided to wait and see...
Our "only" relative left, that we love with all our hearts has been having problems for around a month. She's our Aunt Leona, Mom's sister, and as close to a Mom that Mark and I have since my Mom passed away.
She's 85, almost 86 and has been the healthiest person we've ever known, till now. To the point where she's not used to Dr's and didn't even have a family Dr., as she truly never needed one.
About a month ago, she started falling without warning-no numbness, no tingling- nothing. Thank God both times she fell on a rug and all she got from either was one black eye.
BUT - she's always had an almost photographic memory, like me and now she cannot remember even yesterday, after the second fall - with the first one, I wanted to find her a Dr., and hoped that ours who's not taking new patients, would still see her--but she asked me to wait a week, as she really didn't want to go. Respecting her wishes, we did and she fell again.
I tried our Dr. and he really isn't taking anyone else -- so I called Mark's Pulmonogist to see if they knew of anyone for a family Dr. that was good - which they did, so I made her an appointment and we've been there every week since then.
We're waiting on results of a couple tests and also waiting for a CAT of her brain to be scheduled as well as an Ultrasound of her neck and chest - she's had bloodwork and a chest x-ray, (results pending). We take her to all her appointments and I go in with her - she's losing weight and isn't really eating, and says that nothing tastes "right". Her Dr. knows as she's being upfront with him, she's not cooking, driving, etc's - and she's very shaky.
I'm doing the cooking for her and us-she lives the next town over and it's not a big deal. Her son (our cousin, Mark's as close to her as I am) lives with her, but he works and isn't home much, and actually doesn't seem to "get" that she's not doing good at all.
I call her every day - she manytimes doesn't remember that I've called the next day, but she does know I call often. We're over there at least once a week, and stay till she's tired and needs to lie down. Please, if you have a moment, pray for her - I can't begin to tell anyone other than Mark, who feels like I do, what it would be like if there's something really, really wrong that can't be fixed.

Awww... sending healing prayers for your aunt. btw, one of my grandmother's name was Leona. She didn't like it, so she shortened it to Lena. Prayers for your family too.

Marilyn you know that we will pray for her! Also praying that the Lord lead and guide the dr's into finding what the problem is! You know we are here for you anytime you need prayer for you or anyone else! Gosh look at the prayers you have sent up for us! ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))

It means a lot. We ought to get results of *all* the tests at the same time, I think. We're doing lots of praying here too.

That was my memere (grandmother's) name on dad side & it happened to be the first funeral I went to at 8 yrs old.
(It's Sylvie's Middle name too).

It's funny as I don't know anyone else with that name - well, till now. Other than one of our kittys that a few years back that she really liked, we named after her.

Wow, that is a different name. My Grandmom's name on Dad's side, was... ready? Dorcas Cornelias! Who'd DO that to a girl? (glad nobody was named after her!)
Aunt Leona is scheduled for a CAT of her brain, an Echo something or other, ultrasound on her neck and one on her heart for May 8th, but we won't get results till her next Dr's appt., which is the 23rd, but it'll be good to get the tests out of the way. She'll be exhausted though as she's having them done, one after the other, just to get them all done in one day. She doesn't want to keep going back, which I don't blame her, so it'll be one test after another.

Believe it or not a girl I knew in High School was named Dorcas, my parents were going to call me Elizabeth & I thought that was bad.

Hi,
Her tests are now moved up two days to the tenth - so I also need to call the Dr., before the 23rd, just to make sure he's got all the results. Hopefully, he will by then - he'd wanted her to have them done in the hospital (admitted for two days), as he'd have already had the results, but she didn't want to go to the hospital, so she's having them done at the surgical center, where it'll take a little longer. She's not doing good...

Elizabeth? Yes, that name is way too long - it's my middle name! LOL

Marilyn, how are you & Mark holding up with taking care of Aunt Leona? Yesterday was the tests you said, so I'm praying the Dr's find out & can help with the problem. Waiting for test results is almost worse than taking the tests (the anxiety you go thru' & all).

The tests are seeming like forever to us - Aunt Leona doesn't even want to go to the Doctor - she says she's had enough of it all, but she will go, cuz we're taking her.
I was in the room for the Echo-stuff (ultrasounds), and though they couldn't tell me or her anything, whenever they brought up an artery (which is bright red), another patch of blue would also show, blockage? Same with her heart... so we wait.
I do know that whenever I call her, and I call most every day, go over as often as we can, definitely weekly - she doesn't remember me calling anymore, though she does know I DO call. Just not when. Whatever's going on is getting worse and fast too. The memory problems and she does know she's got them, are getting worse daily.
Thanks, the waiting is so hard. It's always better to know, and maybe there will be "some" help for her.
