John has had set backs "again", but I will update everyone (hopefully on a positive note) real soon.

Bless his heart! I know that God is performing miracles everyday for John! I am continuing to pray for him and all the family!

Update on John. He's continued to be able to breath on his own with breaks. His kidney's are producing urine almost as much as a "normal person" (even tho' Dr's said his kidney's were totally gone at 11/8 family meeting). BUT his kidney's are NOT "filtering" the urine like normal people.

He has a rash, but that may be from one of the 3 antibiotics for his recent temps. John has not responded to voices of family members. Yet, his fiance did say she felt him squeeze her hand before, but no other family members have experienced that (so who knows).

I have a cold/flu thing & I am staying away to not give or get germs (no Health Insurance - gotta' think of that).

I called John's fiance 3 1/2 hours ago & she was on the phone & said she'd call me back with update & I haven't heard back yet, but will keep ya' all informed since your prayers & faith have gotten John this far & I thank you!

I believe miracles are happening everyday & people just don't notice them much.

I mean things, like somebody hungry getting food, somebody cold getting heat or warm clothing, toys for kids at xmas that family couldn't afford, somebody sick gettingmedicine or medical care without being insured, shut-in's getting company - not just a meal delivered, families finding affordable housing, or affordable vehicle, or affordable daycare to get to work (or school to further thier education for potential better income in the future) ETC..................

Yet with this forum, I know MUCH bigger miracles are happening thru' peoples faith & prayers! When I light a candle - it's now lit for everyone with warm loving thoughts that people keep helping each other - even if it's just by listening to them!

Thanx June for your continued prayers for John, especially since your going thru' such a dark time now with Lawrence passing. That's one reason why I didn't want to post of John progress, but God makes the decision of when each person comes to him & there's nothing we can do about it.

John's off all 3 BP meds, breathing on his own with breaks at night, kidney's are producing & filtering, some wounds are healing well. He's been awake a couple days & can move his head to respond yes & no & seems to be trying to talk (but can't 'cuz still got the tube down his throat to get rid of stomach bile). Hasn't had a temp in over a week either. Not sure if liver is working, but spleen that's been dead awhile needs removing & he'll need more of left leg amputated when his body can deal with surgery.

Doreen previously said John gave her xmas back (after her daughter's 1998 death in December). GUESS JOHN'S "REALLY" GIVING HER XMAS BACK NOW!

Lisa, please don't worry about me! I am so excited to hear of Johns progress! It is very encouraging to me that he is getting along so well! It was meant for Lawrence to go home with the Lord, his body was tired and he needed a rest. I will miss him greatly and my heart will be sad for a long time, but he is at peace now and with our Master! I will meet him again one day!

This is just great news! I just told hubby about his progress and he is as excited as I am. I can't wait to tell them at church of his progress! Keep posting updates!

Another update on John:

Today I visited John with dad & youngest sis' & John was awake & was able to smile 'cuz he had no tube in his mouth for bile drainage! He made sad faces too - so at least he's showing emotions which probably means his brains not damaged.

They started feeding him "Ensure" type nutrient thru his nose - so tube out of mouth was replaced by nasal feeding tube. (But when we got there at 10:30AM he had neither tube) becuz' of recent temp.

John's temp spiked to 103-104 degrees at 8:30AM & he's back on "3" Antibiotics & Infectious Disease Dr's are coming in today. He was gonna' have skin graph surgery THIS Monday & that's gonna' depend on his status when it get's closer now!

After over 7 weeks in bed the only "bed sore" he got was in nape of neck & they "drained it or whatever word they used" I'm wondering if that area has 'caused him recent infection?

He also is back on BP medication - 'cuz his Blood Pressure is LOW & they kicked us out to run a line for monitoring his BP again. Yet he's still not on ANY dialysis after Dr's saying he'd be on it for life!

He TRIED SO HARD to talk to us, & moved one hand 1" from Trache as if to pull it out & moved his head to almost try moving oxygen tube out of his way.

Then the oxygen machine started making more noise, 'cuz he was breathing harder on his own breaths (Machine is set to 4 breaths per minute) for just his "laying down" state.

So me & sis' believe he was trying to pull Trache & Oxygen Tube out - 'cuz he didn't want it anymore! So we calmed him down explaining he "needed" the machine & Dr's would take him off when they thought it was the right time & to try to relax.

Fiance said she called that AM before we arrived & said JOHN already DID take the Trache "slip cover" off, which IS a sign he doesn't want that anymore.

Nurse said he did shake head NO, this AM when she asked if he was in Pain & thats Good!

HAS ANYONE HEARD OF A "COMMUNICATION BOARD" that John can use now that his hand has moved enough & he'll be able to "point"?

John's fever is down to 99. "something", maybe he will get skin graph surgery this Monday after all.

Hi,
Great news on John. The first thing that we all try to do is pull all the tubes out, they aren't comfortable - I did the same thing and managed to get them out a few times though I still needed them. (they tied my hands down!)
Prayers that he keeps improving.... each and every day.

Yeah, I heard from other's that it's normal to try pulling tubes out & they did tie one hand down after putting line in for BP monitoring.

John's skin graph surgery did happen today ('cuz his fever didn't spike) & Dr.'s liked the results.

Dad & 1 of my sister's will visit him tomorrow morning.
