Just because you are willing to let him go does not mean you don't believe in God, sometimes it is God's will to let go. I know that the Lord will send what you all need to get thru this!

Thanx so much for your prayers & support june72 & katinhats, it is helping me "get thru' what God has brought to our family". God really must think we are VERY strong people for putting us thru' so many life challenges in such a short period of time.

I "live for the day", 'cuz ya' never know when it'll be my last & I totally appreciate all the little things in life so much more!

I always try to do little things when I can, even if it's just saying hi & with a smile to a stranger. Who know's that person could be having a tougher day than me.

Smiles are free so it's affordable even when you don't have a job! :-)

I love your attitude even when you're having such a rough time, a nightmare time really, that you can think to share a smile or a hello - but it's the way to feel and do... and you're right, we don't know what someone else is going through. Last night HOSPITAL CALLED John's fiance for a meeting with Dr's about John's status & advised her to bring a friend. She did go & brought a friend John knew for years. He's not "immediate family" & we don't know if he could "see" John, to form his own opinion's or if he's just supporting fiance's opinions.

Today dad had fiance over his house & expressed how he also loved his wife of 46 yrs & had to "let her go" even tho' she was the "love of his life" & how fiance should "do what's best for John" after dad & I visited John 2 days ago & given Dr's grim outlook 9 days ago at family meeting.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THE HOSPITAL CAN CHALLENGE A PERSON'S MEDICAL PROXY (ESPECIALLY SINCE DR'S & SOME NURSES EXPRESSED THIER FEELINGS OF FIANCE "NOT BEING REALISTIC").

Either the Dr's at Mtg. did say they CAN challenge her proxy or my dad's feeling didn't sit well with her own opinions, 'cuz she put a call in to an Attorney!!

(Weird thing is she cries to dad about owing an 8 yr. old phone bills from when her daughter died overseas, & Atty's are NOT free or cheap)!

Any Atty. in thier right mind offering to take case Pro-Bono that "SAW" John would probably "RUN, not walk way"!
ETHIC'S & QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES & ALL !

Our family said fiance would ALWAYS be a part of our family & we meant it, & never wanna' retrack it.

But my dad is 67 & lost his wife 2 yrs. ago & his oldest son LESS than 5 month's ago & had prior stroke & bypass & is raising John's son. SO HOW CAN FIANCE DO THIS TO HIM & ALL OF US (Including John's daughter that she was supposed to be a mom to)??

Thanksgiving fiance is invited & I myself don't wanna' show at my sister's & don't think dad or my other sister does either - ALL 'CUZ OF FIANCE who's invited & her latest actions with calling ATTY.! SO NOW WHAT??

MY GOOD ATTITUDE IS FADING REALLY FAST NOW

Myself, my dad & 2 sister's are all praying that gods will be done here (before Attorney's get involved).

A month ago,I bought an angel shaped prayer box & I wrote "may gods will" be done on 1 side of paper & on other side, I wrote "I pray that JOHN make HIS decision & we ALL know it's for the best.

Too bad fiance who has MedProxy isn't in reality now!

Hi,
Since she's calling an attorney, and "if" she's going through some kind of legal aid or legal clinic, IF she gets an attorney to take this case, and that's a big IF, it might not cost her anything.
Also, this is probably happening due to the fact that the Dr.'s have challenged her proxy and she must think that going to an attorney is the next logical step, for her. Though she's not thinking straight, it's hard for her too, and obviously too hard for her to say good-bye and leave it in God's hands where it is anyways.
I hope she changes her mind about all this, she may be seeing an attorney just to see if the Dr.'s told her the truth as she's not yet ready to let go.
You and your brother, John and your family are in our prayers, it's doubly hard with the holidays coming, I know that too.

Update about John, fiance called atty after Dr's called her in & kept mentioning quality of life & even mentioned "calling in Ethics commity".

Lot's have changed since the first time they totally stopped the medication that keeps him in medically induced coma & they're POSITIVE changes!

Dad & my sis' went up to hospital today & reported good news. I sucked my feelings up & emailed Doreen & she did call me back, but was at work & will call me later tonight to report ALL changes on one post!

With Dr's saying "almost zero % chance of survival & our family believing they know all, I've changed my mind & Miracles just may be in the works here, so thanx to all of you for keeping the faith when my attitude (which is usually good) started diminishing recently!

Yea dr.s don't know everything and I am so glad they don't! You can bet miracles happen everyday! Some we see and some we don't! Hang in there and trust the Lord to do whats best! We will still keep him and all of youns in our prayers!

Update on John & what's happened in "less that 1 wk"!

I was there whe Dr's told fiance they'd eventually "Reduce" John's medication that kept him in a medially induced coma (due to severe body trama).

But - Dr's cut it back "ALL AT ONCE" & fiance was there when John DID open his eyes briefly (but "flailed around" according to her).

So the Dr's "put John back under medication at original level" he was at in the medical induced coma.

Since then, they've been cutting that med back in "tiny increments" & he actually breathed on his own!
(They put him back on oxygen, to give him breaks - but it's a sign that "he's trying to stay here"). (He really love his sunglasses)!

Also his body has been able to tolerate "regular" dialysis & he's off the less invasive 24 hr. one & HAS produced urine.

So - he responded to "coming out of the medical coma" & his lungs "are" trying to breathe on his own & GEEZ even kidneys are responding!! Miracles are happening!!

OVER THE WEEKEND, I ENDED UP WITH A DOLLAR BILL THAT HAD WRITING ON IT & IT SAID "BELIEVE IN GOD"!

I KEPT IT!!!! (Happy Thanksgiving to everyone)!

I am so excited for you! It is just amazing to hear of God's great works! Sounds like your brother is sure going to be a fighter! Keep us updated and we sure will keep the prayers going!

That's fantastic! Prayers are still here for John, you, your sis's, your Dad and Johns fiance! God Bless you all, miracles do happen. He sure sounds like he's fighting!

Update on John in the past 3 days. Medically induced coma medication has been continuously been lowered. At times John's eyes have opened & even seemed to respond to voices by blinking & following voices around the room.

Because that medication was lowered, they've also been able to Reduced Oxygen in increments too & he has been breathing MORE on his own daily! Kidney's are even producing MORE & his color looks better

Blood pressure medication dropped from 3 down to 1
They've been able to put a different "dressing" on SOME of his surgical wounds that only require daily (not multi-times a day) changing which is less trauma on him.

Yet anti-biotics are up to 3 'cuz his temp spiked up. They ran cultures on where lines were & moved them & he had no fever "as of today around 8PM".

Dr's previously said he couldn't handle another CAT Scan, but have said if he keeps improving they would do that.

Thanx everyone for "keeping the faith" (even when mine was failing with Dr's percentages on his chances).

Thanx especially to Kat & June who have become my extended internet family who always are there praying for John & my family (as well as keeping my faith up)!
