I had so much going on in my life, that I found out there was a "Benefit" for John by seeing a poster at a laundry mat. It was Sat. 5/26 & he played bass for a song with an old time band member that was performing that nite.

Seemed like he had fun & raised some money for him as well. I didn't go, that was my own personal "worse" day since my hubby passed on 4/26. Glad it went well for him.

On memorial day I saw John & his benefit went well. He got on stage to thank everyone & played his bass publicly for the 1st. time since 10/10/06.

But he ended up back on IV's last Sat. & could not attend his daughter's 8th grade graduation & was bummed out.

Apparently a "new" problem is that his body is calcium deficient.

First, that's wonderful about the benefit and it means John is reaching out to others and getting back out to the world again. It makes so much sense that it was your personal worst day, one month to the day for your Vic, of course it's an awful time for you! ((Hugs))
Calcium deficient is the IV? They'll give it to him that way and it happens sometimes after surgeries or also after illnesses, or even from certain meds that he's taken - I was on one that I had to have potassium added, first IV, then pills and diet, then gradually it straightened out though I still eat bananas like an ape (no comments, please! lol). And also have a potassium level test taken once per year, so he might be doing that with the calcium in the future, but mine have always come out OK, they just make sure. Hang in there...

Lisa continued prayers for John! He is strong, just like his sis! Sure is a fighter! Continued prayers for you all!

John has gotten thru' so much so far, that we're praying for continued miracles (hope that isn't selfish).

He called & woke me at 7AM Friday about a job he thought I should apply for. I didn't have the degree they required but - I guess he thought I'd make a good Case Worker.

I talked to John Thurs. AM & he was on a heart monitor, & said it's 'cuz he was scheduled for bone scans later on.

He had bone scan's Thurs. & he's got Osteosperosis in spine & "pre-osteo" (whatever medical term he said) in hips. He said his kidneys still aren't functioning properly & said the calcium was going into his blood stream. (I am just going on what he said, 'cuz I didn't speak to a Dr. at all). But he also mentioned his Potassium levels low too.

Not sure if Drs will go ahead on 6/25 for add'l amputation surgery for him to be able to use prostetics now.

Lisa that is not selfish at all! We serve a God full of mercy and I know that John has received many miracles so far and I am praying that God continues to send him many more!

Today John said the 6/25 surgery is on.

A good thing is that instead of moving him at 4:30AM to the other hospital for 7:30AM surgery the same day - his Dr ordered him to go in early.

So John gets picked up tomorrow (Sun) around 9AM & they'll make sure he's hydrated & probably put him on monitors & do other tests to "make sure" his body can withstand Mon 6/25 surgery as scheduled.

Lisa how is John? Did he have the surgery? Prayers that all is well!

John's surgery went amazingly well. I talked to him a couple hours after it & he seemed not only "not groggy, but in pretty good spirits as well".

They transferred him back the same hospital he was in before surgery in Boston & now he's back in Boston.

They did a CAT Scan on his heart area (where he had a large blood clot).

He never knew he had the blood clot til' pieces broke off & traveled to his legs in October & caused muscle to go dead for not being attended to soon enough.

He's still in Boston as of yesterday & 'cuz I don't know CAT Scan results I'm not certain why.

There is a handicap apt. awaiting him that has a deposit on it when he's able to live there tho'.
