And now a little time has past. How is your dad? And how are you doing???

Thank you so much for asking. He is doing well. He has been home for almost two weeks. He is still a little week but went from using a walker to walking on his own the first three days. He is doing well enough that my mom can leave and go to church or shopping which is good for her sanity! It is hard for me to not be there very often but with my kids home from school right now, I don't want to go over there too often. He is impatient and wishes he was already back to normal so we have to remind how well he has done already!. As far as the cancer goes, we won't know more until he sees an oncologist in three weeks. He saw the surgeon and the surgeon was very positive. This has made my dad very positive which is great for his healing. We will see! It has just been so wonderful that he has already done so well!

That's sounding good! Well, keep your spirits up, girl. That's one of the best things you can do for yourself and for your dad and family. I know it's hard with all your kids and all the other stuff in life you have to deal with every day. Be thankful for each day you can talk to him or be with him. Your love will shine through, and that will be very good medicine for him!

Wow!! That is so great that he is still progressing!! Tell him to have some patience though.....it will all come back with time!

Wow it has been over a year! I just thought I would let you all know that is seems like my dad is in his final days now. In the months following the surgery he never got completely well but was working in his yard and going out from time to time but continued to have chemo and radiation on and off. About a month ago, he was not feeling well and couldn't eat. They decided to do a Scan to see if the cancer was spreading. Even tho he was on chemo, the cancer had spread to his liver and throughout his stomach. He decided to stop the chemo because there is nothing else that will help now. He has been going downhill for the past month. He is now having at-home hospice care that started last week. He is too weak to walk on his own but is getting around the house in a walker or wheelchair. Now he hasn't eaten in two days tho so I don't think it will be long. We can tell he is in alot of pain but won't admit it too much.We are so thankful he has had another year wth us. We just knew a year ago he wouldn't want to die slowly like this and now that is what's happening. Please keep him and especially my mom in your prayers. This is really hard on her. They have been married 41 years (last week was their anniversary).

You, your dad and your mom are in my prayers. It is always hard to watch a loved one during their final transition from life on this Earth. It is especially hard on the spouse. We generally spend more time with them than we did the family we grew up in or the family we raised. Your mom does need special prayer and attention during these trying times. She is going through a pain that is only surpassed in the loss of a child. God bless her and her family and may He have mercy on you all by granting a peace that surpasses all understanding.

I am so sorry ...I know this is so hard on you all. I will keep your dad and your family in my prayers.

My mom starts radiation this week. It seems your dad and her have about the same cancer. I pray that your dad will be peaceful, and not in pain. It is so hard to see them hurt so badly and still carry a brave face. (((((hugs)))))

Sending up prayers for your dad, mom, you and the rest of the family. Loosing a parent is tough.......tougher than tough. I know. Cherish every moment you have with him. I am asking God to send his sweet peace to your mom and that he sends his best angel to get your dad when his time comes. We don't always understand God's plan in life, but he knows best. Well, I am sorry to say that my dad passed away yesterday. I just wanted to let you all know. At least he is no longer in pain and in a wonderful place. I am more worried for my mom. She is okay right now but once all these plans are done and everyone goes home, it will be hard I'm sure. My dad's sisters flew out from Pennsylvania and got to see him just three hours before he passed so that was really good. He passed very peacefully.
