rothbear.......my niece opened an account June 30 updated twice for another 2000 pts & updated again on July 1..... her account has 5000 pts. I got my 2000 points for updating this quarter....... Their site has changed a bit since my last update. I noticed that you have to login & hit the "my profile" tab, then select an area to change whether it be address or email, whatever. Then hit the SAVE key...you should get a pop up for 1000pts. Log out & repeat! You'll get another 1000pts! |

I tried this and the first time it gave me the pop up, but not the second time. Quote:

you must completely log out- then you will need to log in again. If you do not log out-you will not get the 1000 points. You can do it 2 times each qaurter! donna |

Moose......hate to say this, but that is exactly what I did. Plus I totally logged out and back in again......and again no points. I'll have to try it again to see what happens. I am a VIP member and am so close to the 100,000 points where I can get 6 days in Hawaii!! Between that and my Marriott points and timeshare we could spend 3 weeks there! Wahoo!! BTW.......do you all realize that you can turn in certain airline's points and get HHonors points for it? Since we live near Pittsburgh and are virtually stuck with Useless.....er, USAir, I turned in my Continental, Delta and United points for HHonors points since there was no way we were ever going to get anything with them. You get 10,000 HHonors points for every 5000 airline points. Unfortunately my American points had already expired. Ahhhhhh........I just went over there and found out that I was trying to make changes by adding and deleting credit cards and that wasn't working. When I went in and changed something in my CONTACT profile, then it worked. Gotta remember that the next time. When someone mentioned "save", that got me to thinking as there isn't a "save" in the credit card area, only the contact area. Last edited by rothbear; 07-04-2002 at 02:30 PM. |

Rothbear... glad you got it working! I too am a VIP working on that trip to Hawaii....no where near the 100,000 only at 40,000 but I do have the frequent flier miles for the 2 free tickets... I figure by the time I get enough HHonors miles for the hotel stay, I should have enough to fly first class to Hawaii...plus the kiddies (2 & 3) are still too young to be away from mom & dad that long! So in a few years..... Thanks for the tip on transferring the miles to HHonors points...I have a small amount of miles just sitting at 2 other airlines. |

do you get the 7000 only if approved for the credit card or do you get it for applying? also, anyone have an advice about what I can do about not getting my reward points (5000pts)at automallonline? they don't answer email or planet feedback. thanks for helping. |

katrinka99.......You can earn points lots of ways. First and foremost is to stay at Hilton affiliated hotels. Hiltons, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn are but a few. Then, of course, are the two/quarter profile update bonuses. And they are also affliated with Visa and American Express. You can get points using those cards as well. I found out, though, that you get a much better deal with AmEx than Visa. 3 points/$1 versus 1 point/$1 for general charges and 5 points/$1 versus 3 points/$1 for Hilton charges. Plus if you have one of the credit cards, you are automatically a lower level VIP member free for a year. You usually have to spend so many nights/year there to earn this level. And they have special rewards strictly for VIP members. BTW......the AmEx card doesn't have a yearly fee on it (not sure about the Visa), but even though they claim there is no monthly limit with AmEx, there actually is one. I was rather disappointed when ours came with only a $2000 limit. Seems a pittance when you consider the levels that are on my other two cards I carry. One is over $26,000!! Not that we EVER go near those limits, mind you! But I'm sure it will go up once they realize that we pay in full every month. |

FYI... the HHonors Visa (thru Citibank) has no annual fee, 0% interest for 6mos & 12.9% after......I choose this method just for the free 10,000 points. I didn't even think about the per $$ points (it's 2 pts/$ for regular charges & 3 pts/$ for Hilton charges).... but am thinking about applying for the Amex just for the free 7500 points. : )
