FYI on the 150 mypoints

after a long talk with Joe at mypoints and explaining about getting the points another guy named greg called me. He told me that when we do this it causes them to loose whoever it is as an advetiser. Because they have to pay for all those points regardless and if we didnt do what was asked and got the points anyway they still have to pay (the advertiser that is). It makes the advertiser mad and they end up pulling that account and never coming back. So in the long run we are the ones hurt cause if this happens enough then they end up with no advertisers and there for no more points and that hurts us. He also told me that they WILL disable your account for this and they will NOT reinstate for it after yesterday. So if you did this I would call and let them know what happened. Hopefully you will be able to keep your account. Sorry if I caused any trouble for any of you but I just deal truthfully and I LOVE mypoints cause they pay everytime and they do it very fast (when I cashed out last year I had my GC in 2 weeks) and I wasnt gonna loose this site for 150 lousy points. They ended up letting me keep mine and they might do yours also if you call them and tell them what happened. I would talk to Joe or Greg. If ya need the number it is in the other thread.

How did they know what link you were talking about, did you have to read in the link to them?

Y did u call them?

I don't understand Y u called them....It is my understanding that when it is posted to go to the blue screen it is at your discretion....We all know that it is wrong, so if I or anyone chooses to do that, isn't that my decision? Altho knowing it is wrong, I didn't click on it....and I won't get any points other than what I get or what is given to me in the emails, but I wouldn't call them......Did u (like Rhea said) read them the link? I'm very curious? I hope u will answer...

NO I did not tell them what link it was. I called them because I didnt know it was illegal until after I had done it and I wasnt gonna have my account closed over 150 points. I told them to take mine but they let me keep them. They said this happens all the time and they are sick of it so if you are caught doing this then you will have your account closed permantely. They are loosing to many advertisers over people being sent to links like this. Which ends up hurting you and me in the long run cause when they do find the link that everyone is being sent to and the advertiser has say 100 poeple and they are saying nope 500 people then they know what link it is from there. They find out who did the actual (whatever it was they needed to do) and who didnt. And from there they disable your account. They have a whole team of fraud workers now because of links like this being posted. They didnt ask what link and I didnt tell them. I didnt know or even remember. Just knew it took me to a blue screen which said I got 150 points and then an expired screen after that. That is all I told them cause I didnt really know where it was supposed to take me.

Yes it is your decission but I didnt know it was gonna get me canceled so YES I called them cause I like them and dont want to loose them for points. Sorry if it makes ya mad but I did what I had to for ME!!! I did NOT know it was wrong or I never would have clicked the link. I found out after I had already clicked it. I would have had to call them at some pint or another cause when I went to cash out they would NOT have let me cause of those points. So I did it sooner than later when I went to cash out. Not trying to be holier than thou just trying to save my own self. I wanted to share with all of you who DID click the link what they told me. Thought it was better you finding out now than later when ya cashed out. They might never know who did and who didnt but for those of you that they do find out clicked it you wont have your account reinstated. I just told them I got sent to a link from a message board (DID NOT say what message board it was) and than after clicking it I found out it was illegal. That was all I told them nothing more. They then told me NEVER to do it again because of what I stated above with it making them loose advertisers etc... and how it will close your account with them if they catch you doing it. You can click on them all you want but I for one will never do it again because of what they told me. You can do what ya want but it is in their terms of service (which even the guy said noone ever reads, me included, but it is there) and is up to you to do what you want. But like I said if you call them and tell them what happened they might let ya keep your account and the points.

Hope this helps. I didnt mean to hurt anyone of you. I just wanted to be honest about what could or can happen if you do this. Not only on this link but any more that might be posted.

Like Karen said in an early thread it is up to you. I wanted to be honest with them upfront and so I called them to let them know. Hope you can get away with it.

I never realized they lost advertisers over this, although I've noticed it HAS gotten harder and harder to get points these days!

Personalyl 150 Mypoints doesn't make that much of a difference to me...I rarely get more than 200 MyPoints for ANYTHING...so I never expect to cash out on more than a $5 or $10 GC.

Personally I think Bonus Mails, Max, and some of the offers on the site are enough...

I mean we can't really complain...we don't always have to be rewarded for doing things...although it sure is nice

Just wanted to add one more thing. Greg also told me that because of this also that when you go to cash out your account may look fine but they are going over everyones account at the time of cash out to make sure everything is kosher and that is when it might be caught. so it may look fine now but when ya cash out is when the problems might arise

Crazytimes: They do because the advertisers have to pay per points given. I am not sure how it is all done but they do know how many people actually bought, subscribed whatever and if they are different there is a problem. That is when the advertiser pulls cause they dont want to have to pay for something somebody did fraudantley and I cant say I blame them for that. I wouldnt want to either if it where me. This is why they have a team of people working on things and links like this

THANKS FOR THE INFO!

I've been tempted to click on these and have once in the past... I was worried about having my account disabled... How do we know where these links come from? Are they someone's emails? are they from another board? It would be nice to know what you actually have to have done to get the points..maybe it's something we could do legitimately instead of sneaking into the blue screen...

thanks for checking this out... I like mypoints and have had good luck with them...

Probably not...that's why I pointed it out initially....

Here is the number again. 1-415-676-3700 If they dont answer than ya punch 8. Leave them a message and they will call you back. If they do answer ask for greg or Joe.

All I can say is whatever you do be honest about what happened. Tell them if you did it knowingly. Better to be honest than to lie about it.

Thank you Karen for this cause what you said above (sorry I dont have a clue how to do the quote thing) because although I am not new to mypoints I am to this message board and DID NOT know clicking that would lead to trouble. So THANK YOU for your support!!!! But it was to late cause I clicked it before your post! So this is why I wanted veryone hear to know what happened and why it is happening.

I for one would rather earn them slow and legit than fast and ilegal

Well, I got the dreaded email today. I'm really not clear as to if my account is closed or not, but after reading this post, I assume it is. The girl I work with also got one for her account too. This is a portion of what it said:

Please understand that this kind of activity is detrimental to the
integrity and value of the MyPoints Program. While we place great value on
your membership and hope that you continue to enjoy the benefits of the
Program, we must advise you that such activity will render your account
disabled and your points forfeit.

It says that they hope I continue to enjoy the benefits of the Program--so what do you think, have I been booted or not?

I also got the email.

I am pretty sure they didn't close the account. The email was a warning.

same questions here . .

so I emailed them. Forfeit all points or 150? Continue enjoying or account closed? Not a very well worded message. I'll let you know if I get a response.
