| Did the checks you received clear OK? I recently received the first check from searchcactus and attempted to cash it at the local Comerica bank, where I was told by a barely-legal-age teller that they are not the same bank as Comerica in Ann Arbor, MI where the checks are drawn, and they would not cash anything for a non-customer. Apparently they are only an "affiliate" not a sister bank??? So before I take this check to my credit union, I wanted to survey the audience and find out if anyone has had trouble with the checks from searchcactus, recently or in the past. I'd prefer to avoid any overdraft charges that aren't my fault, and I'm just a little wary after all the closures lately... and too cheap to call the bank in Michigan! Thanks all!

| I put point earning checks in my regular bank..they have never mentioned any problems with any checks I deposit or cash. The Search Cactus check was also no problem. I never even bother to look and see what bank the point earning checks are drawn on. I think, bigredmonster, you were not at a bank where YOU have an account. You need to cash checks at a bank where YOU have an account, not a bank where the point earning place has an account. |

| cashing and depositing suspect checks True, luckyme123, I attempted to cash a check where I did not have an account. This was ON PURPOSE, since I have run into problemsin the past with MY BANK charging me an overdraft charge when someone else's check bounces, regardless of whether I have cashed the check or deposited it into my account. My bank doesn't care that I didn't know the other account was short of funds, and when the check itself is barely enough to cover an overdraft charge, it really doesn't make sense to gamble on the other account's balance being enough to cover the check. With people I know directly, I usually trust them, however flaky artist types still bounce checks to me now and then. Twice in the last two years, from individuals I know and like! And before that, I worked for 8 months for a small restaurant that quite regularly didn't have funds in their business account (believe it or not) to cover payroll checks to their employees. I verified with another employee that his paycheck bounced, and this happened more than once. That's where I formed the habit of cashing (or attempting to cash) the check at the bank where it was drawn, so my account number is not involved. You might say: three times burned, twice shy! I appreciate your advice but I am being cautious to avoid overdraft charges mounting up. I appreciate hearing that a few people have deposited their Searchcactus checks without problem - I have a little more confidence now! Thanks ever so much for sharing your experiences!!

| OH. Well you have got a very valid point, I didn't think about that, since no check I've gotten anywhere has ever bounced. Your point is especially valid considering that CyberRebates checks are solid rubber and many have been burned. |

| I can't tell you anything about searchcactus checks (still haven't made enough for the first check there) but I thought I would mention that one of my Dollars4Mail checks was returned - it was written on a closed bank account, apparently. BUT this was way back last summer, and I had held on to the check til almost Xmas before trying to cash it... so it was probably my fault for keeping the check so long (was an accident). I never read anything anywhere about anyone else's being returned and the site was stilll up and running as usual when I checked (after getting the returned check) so I never even contacted them about it. I had to pay $25 to my bank too for the fee. And I think that's a very smart idea to cash some checks (if possible) at the bank on which it was written instead of your own. |

| I have not ever had a problem cashing in for search cactus. I have received quite a few checks from them and never had any problem with my bank and credit union. Also Net flip is another good company that I have had no problems cashing in my checks. Pinecone research is another good company also with their checks. These places I have no problems with their checks, good companies. ![]() |
