Re: Pet Freebies

You guys, please don't give your dogs the True Blue Test. Their foods contain garlic and garlic has shown to cause anemia in dogs and cats.

Re: Pet Freebies

The dose determines the poison. I probably wouldn't be feeding it to an animal with anemia but the amount of garlic in the food should not cause anemia. Onion is the main culprit of hemolytic anemia.

Re: Pet Freebies

BioSpot has unfortunately been known to cause seizures and other neurological symptoms. Better not to press your luck as an emergency bill would cost more than buying the reputable brands sold at the vet's office.

Re: Pet Freebies

Take a look about garlic. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

If something is even potentially toxic, it's cruel to feed an animal it.

Re: Pet Freebies

Hi!
Ordered some of the Pet Greenies (had seen it on another site, previously) for my dog and cat -- they really seem to like the treats and dental chews!

Thanks for the informative posts on where to check about animal health and dangers. My oldest fur-kid (dog) is 14 now. Her "sister" (also same breed) lived to 19, so I'm hoping to keep this one around a few more years!

My younger fur-kid (cat) is only 4, so I plan on having her quite a few more years! ... She's the craziest cat, FINALLY ate a few bites of fish a couple of months ago. She'd much rather eat pork (guess it tastes more like rat?).

Anyway, thanks for the sites listing and info!

Re: Pet Freebies

Sorry to do this but here's another health warning, this time about Greenies: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

You'd be better off brushing their teeth and providing hard food to provide cleaning abrasion. Rawhides are okay for dogs that don't swallow them.

They also make rubber toys for chewing, some have ridges in them to fill with dog safe flavored toothpaste. Petco and Petsmart have them.
