Here is an idea to save on you're internet service provider charges. I am going to place it elsewhere, but i think it will fit best here.
In my area, the price for keeping a phone line is twenty dollars. If you have two phone lines, one for your computer, and one for regular use, you're paying $40 plus change (maybe even more if you have call waiting or something else). If you're also paying for you're internet service, something like aol, for $20.00 a month, then you together you are probably paying $60 a month to be online.

Phone line 1 $20.00 (min/month)
Phone line 2 $20.00 (min/month)
ISP 3 $5-20.00

______________Total $60.00 (a month)

I recently switched to a DSL service (direct subscriber link). And now pay only $50.00 a month for everything.
When you sign up for DSL, you only NEED one phone line, so you save money by disconnecting the extra line for you're computer. You can talk on it at the same time you're online. The DSL service uses a higher bandwitdth modem, so you're phone connection doesn't interfere with you're internet connection. The total price of the DSL service is only $50 (with SPRINT) right now. I think they are still offering free installation and the Free DSL modem that you need to use the service. Besides being cheaper (by about $10.00 a month) the service is also MUCH MUCH faster. Its about 20 times faster than a 56K modem. The $50.00 dollars includes You're internet service and the phone line...which you can use at the same time you are online. They only thing not covered in this service is the network card on you're computer. A network card (ethernet card) is about $20, but MANY computers come with them. If the service is available in you're area I would definitely look into getting it. Its much faster, and could save you money.

p.s. ,,, DSL is instant on, so you don't have to wait for the modem to "dial up", you just double click on you're on the net. Give it a try.

Rolling eyes

Yeah, but you forgot to add to the $50 DSL service the $20 you have to pay to keep your exisiting phone line open. :P But hey $10 more isn't too bad for DSL!
