Scottrade has cheap commissions and decent service. Only $500 initial deposit to start trading. Real offices (brick and mortar) and the option of tradng online (I don't have any offices nearby, but have always received prompt and knowledgeable customer service over the phone). Plenty of mutual funds to choose from; or just trade ETFs. I've been with them for 5 yrs now. See
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or

If you'd like me to refer you, please PM with the following:
1) the email address you will use if you sign up with Scottrade (needed for scottrade to give credit to BOTH of us)
2) last name and initial of first name
Once I refer you to Scottrade, they'll send you an email invitation in 3-10 days (watch your junk mail folder, just in case!).
Needless to say, [a committment I always have]:
I will not misuse your information. It will be used solely for the Scottrade referal, and shortly deleted from my DealofDay PM mailbox.
Since Scottrade processes the invitations, I will not have any way of knowing who specifically availed of the referal.
I try to check my PM almost every 2-3 days. I do not work for Scottrade, so please refer to their website for any questions about their services. Thanks!
