Exclamation Info for UrbanQ shoppers!

For all of you shoppers at UrbanQ, I found the following information when I was doing some research at BBB. Take the information for what it is worth, but I thought I would pass it along in any case.

URBANQ.COM
385 Pearsall Avenue
Cedarhurst, NY 11516

Original Business
Start Date: 1/1/2000
Principal: Mr. Daniel Greenberg, CEO
Local Phone Number: (516)239-1860
Fax Number: (516)239-1315
Type of Business Code: 01765
TOB Classification: INTERNET SALES & AUCTIONS

The information in this report has either been provided by the company, or has been compiled by the Bureau from other sources.

Nature Of Business

This firm is engaged in sales and auctions via the Internet. The Bureau's file opened on 12/01/2000.

Customer Experience

This firm has an
unsatisfactory rating, which is the Bureau's lowest rating.

Complaints to the Bureau concern non receipt of rebate in accordance with the advertised offer. Other complaints from consumers concern the rebate request being rejected because the consumer neglected to write the rebate code number on the outside of the envelope, despite the fact that the code was on documents inside the envelope.

The company's size, volume of business, and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number complaints received by the BBB. The number of complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgement on the validity of complaints filed.

Closed Complaints
Total number of complaints processed by the BBB since the firm's BBB file was opened in 12/01/2000: 246
Total number of complaints processed by the BBB in last 12 months: 234

Angry Thank you!

I appreciate you passing on the contact info. I have a rebate that is over 1 year old that I cannot get paid. All I have gotten are form letters from customer service, and I cannot even get those anymore! Never again!

Thanks for the info.
I ordered something from them in January and my credit card was billed in March but I have not received the merchandise yet. It is now in dispute. They say they are looking into it so I'll let you know.
P.S. This is my very first encounter of not getting something I ordered online.
Thanks again for the heads up.
C.

I can't believe that we, as consumers, have no recourse in these type of companies.

This is terrible.

I was one of the fortunate few who only got ripped off for about $100 from Cyberrebate.

I learned from them, no more... Not UrbanQ and not Publisher's Pipeline.

If you take the chance, at least have a credit card that you can get the charge reversed!

Darn them!

The problem with rebates, is that by the time you find out they haven't sent your check, it is beyond the time limit of credit card dispute. If CyberRebate hadn't gone bankrupt, I may have lost ALL the money I spent there. As it was, I got back a few thousand because Mastercard let me dispute the orders I placed a few months before they went bankrupt, since I knew I would never get those rebate checks. It really seems like laws are made to protect companies and not consumers. We should be able to dispute ANYTHING we have a problem with, as long as we don't wait too long to report it after we find out it exists. But when a company like UrbanQ outright lies about our checks being lost in the mail, what recourse do we have? Would reporting them to the postal inspector help? I was hoping as they made more sales, they would have the money to start sending out the rebate checks, but I haven't heard of anyone receiving theirs yet.
