I suspect that, in general, they are much like Vegas -- you don't think all that neon burns for free, do you?
However, I will say this. The one and only time I decided to try online gambling, I went to a site that supposedly rates the online casino "deals." I chose a well-ranked one that matched your original purchase and "invested" about $25, as I recall. Darned if I didn't hit a largish slot payout right off the bat! I ran through the rest of my original money + match (you usually have to spend your full original purchase + match before you can cash out), then cashed out for more than $120 IIRC.
Certainly not a blanket endorsement, and I can't even remember what site is was, but lightning can strike! Of course, people occasionally win the lottery, too, and you know what THOSE odds are like!
P.S. I haven't read the linked site, will most likely never do online gambling again as a) I've used up all my luck and b) I get to Vegas a few times a year...
