Not sure if you've hooked up the printer yet, but make sure you get the "optional" black cartridge to speed it up. Its slower than death. It doesn't so much "print" the page as it lovingly caresses the paper with soft, gentle touches from the ink cartridge, tenderly calling forth subtle colors, pixel by pixel. Ah, so wonderful...but so slow. ![]() The print quality is ok, and for the price (I made $15 after rebate for both) you can't beat it, but just be prepared. It works great as my backup/low volume color printer. |

I got two of these bundles last year (sent one to my mom) and ended up making $30 off it and also a $25 staples card. I like them both a lot. I don't find that they Apollo p-2150U printer is that slow really. It does about 4 color pages a minute for me and maybe 5-6 black pages. It went a lot faster after I downloaded new drivers for it. Just to warn anyone using Windows XP, HP hasn't put out a patch for it to run the printer yet...we had to go about it the long way to get it to finally work (Thank God my husband is a computer tech!) I use it a lot for my business and for schooling with the kids. Of course the speed isn't as good as my laser printer, but I only have black with it, so I think the Apollo does good for color.

The official specs, by the way, say "up to" 3 pages per minute in color with both cartridges. Right now its printing for me about as fast as my prior HP-660 was. It has certainly been reliable and decent print quality, but compared to some of the other printers out there, you definitely want to get it for free or make money on it. For example, I got the staples lexmark Z33 deal recently - its 10 pages per minute with 2400X1200 DPI (versus 600X300 for the apollo) for around $25 after rebate/coupon, and that includes two ink cartridges (versus one for the apollo). Like I say, I have one and use it, and it isn't bad, but I just don't want people to overestimate its capability. |

The staples deal appears done, since the site is out of them (its actually the Z42, now that i'm home and looking at it). There is still a general rebate of $30 from lexmark on the Z42 if you can find it someplace cheap. The good deal about staples was being able to use a $25 off $100 in conjunction with a staples-only rebate of $50. I'm not aware of an exceptional deals on printers right now. ![]() They come and go pretty regularly, if you can live without one for awhile. |
