| Amazing new Dell P4 1.6 Ghz computer system w/CD R-W: $559 plus tax
In Small Business section, you can get a GREAT system: Pentium 4 1.6 Ghz model 4300 (NOT the unexpandable 4300S "space-saver") 128 Mb RAM 40 Gb HD (free upgrade) 64 Mb GeForce2 MX video card with TV-Out (NOT the watered down 16Mb card) 24x10x40 CD R/W (free upgrade - great speed burner) 6 mo free AOL Free Shipping To get the $559 + tax price, you must do the deal this way: 1. Go to Small Busines section 2. Go to "Computer Finder" 3. Select "Under $1,000" 4. Select "Pentium 4" You will now get 25 results 5. Go to "View Your Results" and skip to the third page to the next to last item 6. Choose "Dim 4300 w/15" for $659 7. Under "Customize" take out the 15" monitor (deduct $100) and the price becomes $559 Add to your cart. You will get free shipping, but will have to pay tax (because it's Small Business as opposed to Home). Regardless, in NJ, with 6% tax, my total delivered cost for this system is $592.54. If you try to build exactly the same system in any other way, you will get a price about $150 higher (in the Home section, it would be several hundred higher). I have no idea why, and am not questioning it. BTW, my system just shipped two days after I ordered it. |

Noticed kind of the same thing on a Sony Vaio if anyone is in the market for a notebook. On Sony's website if you go to the custom build section, start with a p3 1000 base system, substitute the cpu for 900mhz celeron, and change the screen to 15" (if its worth $50 to you compared to 14.1), it ends up $999. You essentially have the exact same notebook that most stores advertise for $1150-$1199, 900mhz, 128 ram (get more through pricewatch.com for ALOT less than upgrade with sony), 15gb hd, 8x DVD, 15" XGA, and all the rest of the normal stuff, and its a vaio.
