You are better off using the "WELEM10" code for free shipping. The shipping on the telescope alone is $21.00. I am still undecided, my husband has wanted a telescope for awhile, but I wonder if this one is powerful enough. Can anybody enlighten me on the power and what he will be able to see??????

I find the Amazon reviews very helpful:

Granted, It's only 50 bucks, but if all you can see is the moon (or maybe not even) and it ends up in the closet, then that's 50 bucks wasted.

I'd research plenty before I purchased.

Check out this telescope. Im not sure how 700 compares with 800 but with the 800 I can see all the rings of saturn and I can see the moons of Jupiter. I can see our moon in such detail! I cant believe this cheap telescope is so great.

gee kewlgirl, i sure wish we could see that much with our meade. its a DS114, which means the lens is 114 mm and the focal length is 900 something. we bought extra lenses including a barlow lens which is supposed to double the power of the lens you use it with. even with all that we couldnt see anything else to mars but that it was orangish colored. (this summer when it was so close) right now the scope is sitting in the back room gathering dust. im hoping that the software i got called "startalker" *thanks to mayfly's dad* will spurn some interest in the sky again.

tasker109 - Let me know how that software goes, my brother tried to talk me into buying that Meade yesterday because of the software! From what I have heard, the software is worth the money!

LindaMK - DOH on me! I saw that silly 30% off logo on there and I just went completely blonde for a moment hehe... THAT is the better deal! (Disclaimer: To those who think I bad mouthin' blondes, I AM a blonde and have my 'moments', so Im allowed to make fun of myself! <Grin> )
