Amazon pulls a Staples

On the it keeps getting worse side. I have just been informed by Amazon that I may no longer post unauthorized Amazon coupons on my site and this will be in place for all affiliate sites and all message boards. Arghhh.

What is up with this, why even put the coupons out there if you don't want anyone to use them???????????That is the #1 reason I shop at Amazon, and you usually have to spend at least $50 to get a coupon code to work, and then that only takes care of the shipping cost! They can't be losing money this way, just the opposite! With the economy the shape that it is in, you would think they would be offering sweeter coupons, not taking away the ones that they have offered for years!

Well I wonder why Amazon gives you the little error message that says "Im sorry you have already used this coupon, pass it on to a friend" if they dont want us to pass them on?

I love Amazon. I like to shop there I dont usually rely on coupons from them but I did use the Toys R Us coupons and also a 15 off coupon which seemed to work until I got my confirmation email. No explanation of why they didnt accept it Just noticed that my total was 15.00 higher than when I checked out. BOOOOO Amazon!

Maybe they would save on shipping charges if they didnt ship everything in seperate boxes????

Here is the basis of the e-mail I got from them.

The above list are exclusive codes for select partners like American
Express and Burger King, and we are contractually obligated to make
sure that other entities do not use them. As such, we are going to be
monitoring the internet very closely to make sure that these codes do
not proliferate. Please help us by refraining from posting these
codes.

I'm curious...are they saying that ALL their codes are "exclusive" so that NO codes may be posted...or are some exclusive and some not?

They said that "all codes are exclusive unless they give express permission to a site to post one". They are going to try to work to get the sites a code or two, but I have a feeling that will happen right around never. They have to pay a affiliate fee when people shop at Amazon and go through sites like this. Combining the affiliate fee with coupons is just costing them to much money.

Use the newsgroups. Then they won't have anyone to sue.

First post after enjoying DOD for awhile. I was wondering which newsgroups are useful for finding coupons from the mechants that are blocking websites like DOD from bringing them business. I would love to continue to shop at Staples and Amazon but not if they are going make it difficult to impossible for me to find a coupon code to use.

amazon's prices are rip-offs. i can get the same books at bamm.com and possibly get at the same price if not not even using coupons. i only use amazon when i have coupons and even then, it still is very expensive.

bamm.com used to send me 5 off coupons and i post them on here, but now they make the coupons so that its only a one-time use.

i guess with the way the economy is slumping, every little bit helps the internet companies

Ha! Maybe this will show them that American Express and Burger King just aren't enough to get the coupon words out and then they will beg your forgiveness!
