Let's just assume you need all these. You could have done better. There are at least 3 $25 off coupons $100 purchase floating around. Break your order down and use the coupons.

I agree in general about breaking up the orders. one word of caution: the "extra" package rebate (the palm in this case) ONLY applies if you get ALL the items. I wouldn't break up these items across orders, just in case one of the items magically goes out of stock between ordering.

the software add-ons can all be ordered separately, along with the cds, cdpack, and even the xp.

Staples is telling me that I cannot use any dollar off coupons with the xp deal, because everything that comes with xp is free. They put a hold on my order, I had to find this out by calling. What's up with that? Never had a problem using coupons before with free after rebate items? Anyone else run into this?

Update, I called back and spoke with a different cs. No problem taking the 40 off 200 coupon...zeesh, they make you jump through hoops sometimes.

I did a similar order today, but I have a question. Is the memory rebate good on the upgrade edition? I know there were a lot of posts saying that ahead of time, but when I looked at the Staples rebate it said full edition only. If anyone knows if this is good on the upgrade, please post as I would like to take advantage of that rebate too.

What's the dif between the upgrade and full version (other than $100)?

I'm just thrown off by the word "upgrade". I mean, can you just get the upgrade, or do you already need the full version??

The Upgrade Cd and the full version CD contain the same data. The upgrade CD requires that you have a previous version of windows to install it, in this case, WIn 98, Win 2000 or WIn ME. The full version does not need this previous version. I know they are the same because I have installed with an empty hard drive before. It asks you to insert the cd from the previos version, checks it then tells you to take it out and insert the new version and then installs it.

The reason you have a smiley is because THAT smiley is formed by using an 8 and a ) . SO when you are using #8 and putting it in ()s you are going to end up with a . Get it?

in terms of the free memory, it just says "XP Home"...doesn't say "full" or "upgrade". All of the software have the same wording, so you've got to believe the upgrade versions qualify, or else they shouldn't have put the upgrade version on the same screens with all those freebies.
