| You can actually make $5 off this offer if there's a $5 off $30 coupon floating around. |

Hey dvd-man, your link is broken (try following it and the ... that is normally used when displaying the URL is actually used). Here's a [URL=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005MAFJ//ref=nosim/worldvillage link[/URL]. A $5 code that can be used for this is JUNSUMMERTHY in case McAfee decides to not take the discount into account when issuing the rebate. =) Here's a link to the Last edited by mhoeffner; 09-21-2001 at 09:06 PM. |

| Stupid question?
In checking the dates for the rebate, it states valid 9-17 thru 9-30. If we pre-order, will the Amazon receipt give the current date or the ship date as the purchase date? I always though that an item was not charged until it was shipped. This is a pre-order situation so perhaps it is different, but I am not familiar with it. Someone shed some light on this for me! |

Hi boyzmom. I'm pretty sure that the rebate will be fine if you order it before 9/30. There was a discussion on another "deal" board where everyone pretty much figured out that that would be the case, but I don't think that it would be appropriate to link to other boards here. If you notice on the rebate printout, the rebate is specific to purchases from Amazon, so if they change the ship date, then I'm sure that they'll make the appropriate changes to the rebate clauses. Also, as of yesterday (9/19), the release date was listed as 9/20. Today they changed it to 10/5. Maybe the rebate printout will change soon too...?

Please be careful with McAfee. PERSONAL EXPERIENCE (not a comment on the product, strictly my own experience).............I spent 1-1/2 years troubleshooting a lockup problem on my computer. Basically I had it from day one. I also had major modem problems, but that was fixed. But absolutely nothing could fix this problem. It even got to the place where it was locking up my digital camera software continuously. Got so bad (7-8 times a day) and I was so angry with the computer company (Micron) that we had finally made arrangements to send it in for testing. They kept claiming my problems were software related, but it was happening on ALL the software. They kept finding registry problems. I happened to mention to a friend about my problems and he suggested that I remove McAfee and see what happens as he had heard about lockups with them. Guess what.......I have been lockup free for almost 2 weeks!! Seems that sometimes it can cause a problem with how it attaches itself to the registry. I called them to cancel my membership in the Clinic since I had just paid in June and had absolutely no problems with them doing so. Must commend their customer service. AGAIN.........Just a FYI on what happened with me and doesn't mean that you will have problems. I'm sure it works great on the majority of computers or they couldn't sell it. But if you do develops lockup problems, don't spend eternity troubleshooting your computer like I did. |
