Ebates just informed me that since I used a $10 off coupon at Old Navy, I was ineligible for any Ebates rebate on that purchase. Apparently, some stores have an agreement with Ebates that forbids stacking of a coupon with a Ebates rebate. Has anyone else been told this? In the past, I have used coupons and had no problem getting an Ebates rebate based on the discounted amount of purchase.

I can't help with Old Navy, but I've seen on these boards that some people have had similar problems with JC Penney codes and ebates.... I can tell you that I've personally used codes for Joann's, Bookcloseouts, Walmart and Barnes and Noble with ebates and with no problems (well B&N did take a long time to credit, but I did get it)... I couldn't find anything on their site that said specifically you couldn't do this, if there is maybe someone can point it out to us...otherwise, I'd email ebates first to see what their policy is with particular merchant's and coupon codes. Sorry, I couldn't be more helpful.

This is all I've seen regarding purchases that don't qualify. Thanks for the heads up on Old Navy (which also probably means Gap). I hate to find out after the fact that you can't get the rebate when there are other rewards programs that would give you credit for your purchase. I definitely think alittle pressure applied to ebates by everyone here would at least get them to post these exceptions. Do all purchases qualify for a rebate? Virtually every item you purchase through Ebates qualifies for a rebate. We cannot, however, give rebates for taxes, shipping, or any portion of a purchase that is paid for with coupons, gift certificates or a store credit. (We do give rebates on shipping charges only at the following merchants: ShippingOnly, TheFreeGiftCenter, and Your Free Present.) In addition, a few merchants have specifically noted that they will not pay rebates for certain items including: -Dell Computers: any purchase of Dell products and services in which the transaction is substantially completed by telephone or by a Dell salesperson, or any purchase of refurbished goods. Any orders placed through the Dell Business Alliance Systems Division are not eligible for a rebate. Please be aware that Dell is unable to track orders that are made by linking between business units. If you click on Dell Home or Dell Small Business, the purchase needs to be made within that business unit. If you find that you have navigated away from the intended site or you wish to access other areas of the Dell Site, return to the Ebates home page and choose the appropriate link for the purchase. Purchases made in the Dell Outlet site are not commissionable, and a rebate will not be paid. -PCConnection: Existing PC Connection Customers using their Internet Business Accounts for the purchase. -DisneyStore: DisneyWorld park passes. -Cooking.com: all All-Clad products. -Sundial: telephone service packages. -Buy.com: purchases made within their "Travel" store. -Sparks.com: Purchase of gift certificates. -800.com: Games. -Walmart: Gift cards. -SeaEagle: Purchases made through Coty Marine. -Auction purchases are not eligible to earn rebates. - Prescriptions from all merchants are not eligible due to Federal/State laws and regulations. - Monthly Deliveries, such as Wine-of-the-month clubs, monthly pet food deliveries and telephone service packages are not eligible for a rebate unless all months are paid for up front through Ebates. -FogDog coupon: This coupon is not redeemable for cash, cannot be used with any other coupon, does not apply to shipping, handling and tax, does not apply to custom uniform orders, and cannot be used to purchase a gift certificate. Sale items are excluded, as well as Oakley, Calloway, Air Jordan, Atec, Jugs, Rawlings HOH products, Wilson baseball and softball gloves, softball and baseball bats with a retail value over $150, basketball hoop systems, or any product with a retail value over $500. -BarnesandNoble.com: video games and downloadable articles. -JCPenney: Any purchase placed online but picked up at a JCPenney store is not eligible for a rebate. -Merchant catalogs: Any order for a merchant catalog is not eligible for a rebate. -Florist.com: Order upgrades are not eligible for a rebate. |

I am one who used a coupon at JCPenney and DID get my rebate. I should not have though because it says , in the fine print that cata5 posted, that if the order is picked up at the store it does not qualify. I picked my order up at the store because shipping is too high even if you pick it up. Maybe that it is why people did not get their rebate but thought it was because of a coupon. I can't at all see why the Old Navy purchase did not apply. I also think you should press the point with them. I think they are having alot of trouble and are adding more restrictions, but they can't change the rules anytime they want . Shopping on the internet sure has changed alot over the last two years and I quess that will just continue.

No kidding mcshelll, and now the "powers that be" are talking about taxes on Internet shopping...if I have to pay taxes on top of the outrageous shipping charges that some places charge...I will never shop on the internet again!!! Can you Imagine the fall-out from taxes? While I totally sympathize with small retailers who can't compete with online stores cuz of the "tax free zone", and I don't know if there is a fair or equitable solution...I just can't see myself spending money at Amazon, paying the shipping, and getting charged taxes...that'll just push the prices of items over the top of what I can buy them for locally... Of course, I'm in NH where we don't have a general sales tax so things would probably be different elsewhere...I'm curious though, what do y'all think about an internet sales tax????

Sometimes I pay tax on an internet order. I think it is if they have a store in the state you are ordering. I thought it was just like mail order tax - sometimes it applies and sometimes it doesn't. I know I don't want to pay it though.

California has tried for years to get sales tax for out-of-state mail order purchases. They say state residents are supposed to voluntarily submit the appropriate tax to the state. HA HA HA! Needless to say, I don't know anyone who lives here and does that! I think that Internet shopping is just like mail order and, unless the merchant has a "presence" in the state, it is going to remain tax-free for as long as mail-order remains tax-free. |

One of the "perks" of online shopping for me is not having to pay taxes in most cases (that I would pay if I went to the store). So, I start out with a 7% discount!

I have heard this too, though so far I've gotten all my rebates. I guess sometimes it applies and sometimes it doesn't. I also found out that contact lenses are not eligible for rebates by federal law (though that's a new one on me!). Kind of makes it dumb to include LensExpress, doesn't it?

| Re: Ebates rebates combined with other coupons
The ebates cash back USED to post to my account within days, now it takes weeks or more IF it ever does at all. I have to email them my orders so they will get credited to my ebates account. More than half the time I'm told my order does not qualify for a cash back bonus because I used a non ebates discount code with the purchase. I almost always use a discount code with online purchases and it hasn't effected my cash back bonuses until recently. Here's what they say about it when I'm denied the bonus. After researching your order, it has been determined that your order was not credited to Ebates. This research is done in conjunction with the merchant to provide the most accurate results. Any other promotional discounts used during this purchase may over ride the eligibility to earn Ebates cash-back. In this case, the use of a non-Ebates coupon/discount overrides the eligibility to earn Ebates cash-back. Please see our Help/FAQ page for more information: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I make several online purchases for 100's and 1,000's of dollars at a time. It's more than just a few dollars that I'm not receiving in bonuses. Time to find a different online rebate system. Koma |
