I was just wondering if anyone checked out this deal from yesterday (I think)? I've seen this before and thought about subscribing to some magazines - only $2.95 for a year! (Great titles like Parents, US weekly, etc).

I always think there's a catch though! It did say it doesn't automatically renew your subscription at a higher price.

Just wanted opinions, thanks!

Big grin Magazines rock!

I just wanted to let you know that I somewhat hesitantly placed an order for four or so magazines a month back. All four came promptly, as promised (and continue to do so) and I was charged exactly what they promised: $2.95 each.

I've been so pleased with the deal--and impressed with the magazine selection--that my husband and I just placed an order for another 10 titles. (We're magazine junkies.)

Several of my friends and my sister have all placed orders and are all pleased.

Thanks for the quick reply! We went ahead and order 6 magazines. I'm also a magazine junkie!

The only thing I'm worried about is them continuing them for full-price afterwards (and charging our credit card). I guess we'll just have to keep an eye on it and fight the charges if that happens.

Red face

i placed an order for 6 different magazines, havent received any yet, but i'm sure they will come...did this last year with another company on the internet for 5.95 each and got all of them, although a little later than they were available in the stores....a great deal and now i dont feel guilty if i dont have time to read the magazine, since they were so cheap in the first place.....and they make good gifts.....did that for a few friends and they loved it....

I ordered a few magazines a few months ago and they all have come. I don't remember reading anything about them auto-renewing the magazines or charging your credit card for another year. Did I miss this??

I ordered 3,only 1 has come so far.
I'm sure they will auto renew(at cheaper price is what I read it to be)
I seen on a board that someone ordered magazines from them, then went back and renewed at $2.95(2 years=$5.90)I may try that.

Baffled price increas

I looked at this site about a month ago and put mags in my cart but then had problems getting the billing info to go in, wouldnt take maryland. Never went back to order......went today and the prices went up to $3.95 as of July 1, 2001. still not a bad deal but since i ordered 4 magazines the $4 extra that i just spent could have gotten me a 5th mag a week ago oh well, still cheaper than newstand price

1. My recollection, from when I bought these a few days ago, was their statement that they would not auto-renew -- you would get a renewal notice (just as if you had ordered the magazine "normally").

2. FYI, magazine publishers do this to pump up their subscription numbers so they can charge more for advertising. Typically they have to report these "complimentary" subs separately from "real paid" subs, so advertisers are not being misled, but the total numbers still look impressive. And I'm sure there's lots of data on how many people go on to continue as paid subscribers -- same concept behind any free sample program. In the overall scheme of things, adding our names to their printing/mailing list is a teensy tiny expense -- postage is by far the biggest hit -- and who knows how much of that $2-$3 goes to the mags to offset postage? Mags themselves are pennies in the quantities they print.

Tongue Me too!

I did this deal about a week or two ago since a girl I work with did it too and her billing on credit card was just fine. My credit card went thru ok so I am now just waiting for them to arrive!!!

Can't wait for Rosie Mag, its is really pretty good.
