If this is posted in the wrong board - I apologize and understand if it gets moved - but I have a question regarding the staple rebates. For those of you with experience.... How long does it normally take before you can "track" teh rebate on-line? I sent in the rebate for the "free" mp3 player around 2 weeks ago and the website can't find it. I know it takes a while to receive it - I'm just wondering if I should contact them and ask where I would send my backup copies to..

A month is about right for me also. I always hear about folks having problems with staples ebates but I never have and I have gotten maybe 20 checks over the past two years. I hate that they now send the check like a post card. ALSO, if they deny you and they have 3 or so of mine, send in the back up stuff and every time I have they have honored it the second time around. They do it on the big item checks as if it was routine procedure, likely a second stage to eliminate pay outs.

FreebieHunter , back to your quetion about how long it takes to get the "tracking number"

When I have submitted the rebate in the on-line rebate area of Staples.com.. I have received my tracking almost immediately..within minutes sometimes.

But if I did not enter it on-line , but rather simply mailed it..it has taken up to 6 weeks to get the tracking number.

I did have one I submitted snail mail and not via on-line that I was not sent a tracking number for. After a month I called and was told how to re-submitt the entire thing it because they CSR could not find it. So I re-submitted following his directions.. I never did get a tracking number..but the check arrived!!!

Thanks everyone - I sent mine snail mail - so I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer before i start getting impatient. I appreciate everyones feedback on this.

What bar code did you put on the form for the MP3 player. The one on the package is not the correct one if you are talking about the buy a burner get a MP3 player free. Also you need a copy of the Burner bar code. I called staples after tracking my rebate and seeing I didn't have the right info. When he told me the bar code was wrong, I informed him I have the package and their is no other bar code. We then went to the receipt and I read the barcode off of it and he accepted it. Apparently this mp# player has a micro barcode or some such thing and the one on the package is put on by staples for scanning.

This is the first time I sent in a Staples rebate, but two weeks ago I got the Intel PC Camera. Sent in the rebate the next day. I got the rebate confirmation number in my E-mail today. It says it's being processed. I can look up my rebate on their website.
