Question

Not looking for anything fancy -- maybe just a round oak kitchen table and chairs with a leaf in it to make the table seat 6-8? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Stay away from living.com or furniture.com - they are trouble from the beginning! I speak from personal experience!

stay away from furniture.com... they sell junk. i bought two end tables and a coffee table that turned out to be junk... the order took about 4 months to ship... it was horrendous... the only grace was the fact that they never bothered to pick up the two tables they did send me. why? because they weren't worth the cost of shipping. they did credit my visa though

Thanks everyone for telling me where NOT to buy furniture. This is such a great board --saves so much time!

I don't live in CT -- but does BOBS have an online store?

I'm still interested in where a good place would be to purchase furniture online. If there is no such place, I guess I'll just look locally. Thanks everyone for all of your help.

I also had the most terrible experience with furniture.com. I ordered in Feb and in June they said they were sorry but they misplaced my order. Very bad time getting any info and no answer to emails for weeks!!! Whaaaaaa!!! I still have no table and chairs. I looked at Deliverall.com when I went to sign up for the magazine rack. Has anyone tried them yet? Prices seemed good and they have free shipping and a tv tray offer.

Thumbs up

Try Home Decorators Collection (www.homedecorators.com) The web site is harder to use than the catalog. Call 800 245 2217 to get one. Anyway, good prices, nice stuff. I just got 4 all wood windsor-style chairs for 59 each, plus a small all wood table (36 inch) for $140. The chairs have arrived and I'm very satisfied. The table is on backorder, but it was so much less than any other place I looked that I'm willing to wait.

In regards to [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] :I have never ordered furniture but I have ordered many toys and collectibles and they always come packaged good and quick.

As for furniture.com, I ordered an entertainment center in March and have yet to see it!! They tell me it's on a truck that left 6/7 but can't tell me more!! They stink big time!!

I must be lucky, because I had a great experience w/ furniture.com. My got here more quickly than they said it would and the item & quality were exactly what I was hoping for.

My neighbor is in a dispute with furniture.com as we speak. She ordered bunk beds. Furniture.com charged her CC the day she placed the order not when they shipped out. When the beds came, they were missing the bunky boards (needed to support the mattresses) and the footboard is severely cracked. No on will return her phone calls or her certified snail mail letters!

I have heard that some people have gotten fine service from furniture.com, but I also read many bad reviews at ratingswonder. If people have problems, they are big ones and cs doesn't help much even when they answer emails or phone calls. I can't tell you the number of times I sat waiting for more than an hour to talk to cs. If I got them, they told me nothing and at times I hung up in frustration. My emails went unanswered for weeks on end except for automated responses that told me they were very busy!!! So am I, give me a break! I just got my cc statement though and they have now posted my credit so I am done with them. YEAH!!!!!!!

how about jcpenney.com??? (www.jcpenney.com) they are always having 25% or 15% off discount codes. I swear by Penneys!! I think the furniture discount is usually 15%. try item #'s R796C2830A table & 4 chairs (5-piece hardwood casual dining set for $399.97 or item#'s R796C0065A, R796C0081A, or R796C4844A (a corner nook set) all item#s which are also hardwood, priced at $499. or try item # R796C3689C which is a pretty octagon glass top table with high back cloth chairs, looks like it would be expensive but is only $399. you may need to search for some jcpenney discount codes to save the 15%, the only one I have expired 7/18 (sorry), but there always seems to be discount codes for them.

If you have an IKEA within driving distance, I'd try there for your table and chairs. I recently moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and had to leave almost all my crappy furniture behind. IKEA has saved me! Great stuff with great prices. Shopping for a sofabed, some of the ones I sat on were nothing but foam but whaddya expect for $499? I ended up getting a great sofabed for $925.

Sure, they have some junk there, but most of it is solid and durable. Plus, it helps when you can actually sit on it and decide for yourself!
