| I truly appreciate the work of the person who posted that $20 off coupon originally. I don't know if anyone else has run into this at the Office Depot - but being a newbie here I thought I might take the time to warn everyone. I tried to use the coupon today on what would have still been a good sized cart of office supplies. The store manager was standing at the service desk and said he could start ringing up customers. Well when I showed the coupon plus all my items , which I would have paid for minus the $20 coupon , he got pretty darn rude. Sorry to say , I don't believe I will ever patronize his store again. I even told him I would leave and 'think about ' coming back to buy the items later. ***** He was rude and said something to the effect that the original person who received this coupon had 'illegally' copied it and blah blah blah. Well by reading the coupon , I found nothing to that effect. It even read as if the same person could go into the store once per visit and purchase with it. But I decided not to argue the point. My hubby was going to use one this evening to purchase more computer software - making up the difference. I left him a message to not go to that store. **** Sorry this had to happen. But I wanted to warn others in case it happens to them. I think in the very least this manager should have been more careful in what he said to me about the coupon and its users. Have a nice day ....

| Yes, the manager could have been polite about it. The coupon was only for those who got it for a survey and it was not meant for mass distribution. That is why they cancelled the offer, a lot of people sent the coupon to everyone and posted it everywhere...and it ended up being abused... The manager could have handled it better, I agree. |

| I was also turned down by a clerk for using the coupon, she was not too pleasant either, just kept saying how they couldnt just give $20 worth of stuff away to everyone, but she called the manager over and the manager okayed it. Maybe you could take the coupon to another store and they would okay it. There was someone else I know that also used the coupon that ran into the same problem, but also, the manager okayed it. Kinda funny for a computer store to post a coupon on an internet address and not anticipate it getting around.

| While I don't condone knowing, illegal use of coupons and such, on the other hand, I get irked when companies put absolutely no thought into their work and distribute coupons that are only "supposed" to be used in a certain fashion but don't say that. Once some of these restricted coupons are posted, how are we supposed to know if its OK to use them? It puts us in the odd position of having to figure out the intention of the company. If you want to limit use of a "thank you" coupon, do what other companies have been doing for a long time - generate unique gift certificates (a la "use once" codes like ADSFOUW324209SDFJS0SF - then if you don't want to use it and post it, it can only be used once by the first person who gets it). |

| $20 Coupon Looks like these coupons are being accepted or not accepted - depending on what store you go to. I used my coupon this morning (in TX) and the cashier (who was a manager) took it without hestitation. (Mon 3/19) I can understand the company's frustration - but that doesn't mean they have to be rude. Hope your future deals are more successful. |

| They didn't accept it because somebody from the freebie forum on this site actually called the store and alerted them and had them cancel the number. It has been quite interesting on the freebie forum. I am not sure if it is still on, but search smileygirl posts and look for sorry to burst everyone's bubble |

| Yes, this site is wonderful that way...the administration and members do a great job of promoting only honest deals...please do not stir up trouble over smileygirl's post...she did the right thing and I think everyone can still live without 20 dollars worth of stuff from Office Depot. |
