Thumbs up

This is a long story so hang in there. It's worth it for an Amazon certificate!
I got the following email:
---------------------------------------
Why spend time paying tiresome bills
when you could be curling up with a new
book, video, or CD from Amazon.com?

When you sign up for online billing
from AT&T, you'll get:
Online Statements You Can View Anytime
Convenient Automatic Bill Payment
AT&T Online Customer Service
120 Free Minutes
$30 Amazon.com Gift Certificate

Redeemable at Amazon.com, the place to
find and discover anything you want to
buy online.

To sign up now, click on or copy and paste this URL:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

----------------------------------------
Allow 1 week for e-mail delivery of
your Amazon.com gift certificate claim
code. Other terms and conditions may apply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So then you go to this url but it says nothing about the Amazon cert. So, I emailed customer service and here's what they said:
Dear Marina,
Thank you for contacting AT&T Online Customer Service.
I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced.
Please use the following URL for the $30.00 E*TRADE gift certificate promotion:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, at this url it says to sign up for long distance w/online billing and get a gift cert for the Etrade bookstore. THen it specifically says that this is valid at Amazon too!
-----------------------------------
Finally, here's the important part.
They make you sign up for long distance of 5 cents/min for inter-state calls. You don't have to choose local toll but if you do, you get $1 off the monthly fee. Monthly fee is like $7.95. HOWEVER, ATT has an EXCELLENT PLAN of 5 cent evenings inter-state, 9 cent daytime inter-state with no monthly fee. I have emailed customer service to find out how long I have to wait before I can switch to this cheaper plan and STILL receive the GIFT CERT. I WILL KEEP YOU ALL UPDATED ON WHAT THEY REPLY.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I think is going to happen is that I will pay for 1 month on this plan, then switch to the 5 cent evening plan and still get my gift cert. It says "Please allow 3 weeks to get your gift certificate" so you should be able to cancel or switch to cheaper plan after you get your cert. Again, I will keep you all updated on customer service's reply.

Do a search at this site. AT&T has a deal good through Dec 31 for $50 super gift certificate. I signed up on that and got it the next day. The deal also included 120 free minutes first month of billing.

Monthly fee seems high..?? I rarely use long distance, so not paying a monthly fee is great w/the company I have now...Anyone aware of any long distance promos offered w/no monthly charges?

I only just signed up so I have to wait. I emailed customer service and asked "how long do I have to wait until I can switch plans and still get my GC?" and they replied "we recommend you wait until you get your gc and then switch." The site says: Please allow three weeks to receive your E*TRADE Bookstore Gift Certificate. (Which can be applied to amazon.com)
