Shocked

Wow...$300.00! Wasn't this posted months ago for around $700.00. Good to know that it's come down so much. Thanks for the tip!

FYI.. This is a UNIX box.
Will not run Windows..

VERY IBM... I would stay away unless you are a guru. I Think I had this box when Windows NT 4.0 was supported on the PowerPC platform.. Don't remember... Been too long ago.

Thanks for the tip. Still looks like a good deal for now $288.00 since it comes with a 19" monitor. Don't you think?

Any relationship between Princess K and in flux? Seems fishy.

Question

Ok here is the scoop if you are thinking of buying this for the 19in monitor to hook up to your Windows PC DON'T.

Its not to compatible with other video cards.

Here is a link to a site with some info on it. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now]

Probably more trouble than its worth.
PLUS its a refurbished unit..

PLEASE don't go to this link thinking you're gonna get a good buy on a home computer. This is an OLD (stopped production in January 1997), SLOW (80 MHz!!) RS-6000 Unix box, with a proprietary monitor that will NOT work with your PC, and with IBM's old Micro Channel slots, so you won't ever be able to upgrade this beast. It also has no floppy drive and no CD-ROM drive. If you're a computer geek with 267 bucks to blow just for something to play around with, then have at it. If you want a system to use at home for your email/web browsing/freebie searches, this ain't it! You'll be better off shopping for one on eBay!
