I received this yesterday, tried posting early--but had problems getting on DOD! Hope it still works! Seems as though anyone can sign up--just need to register on to discoverwhy.com website. Hope it works!

DiscoverWhy's Online Research is getting more exciting and revolutionary by
the minute!! We would like to invite you to rate the Presidential Debate
Live on Tuesday October 3, 2000. This is fun, easy and exciting. Your
opinions will directly influence the future of our country and the issues
discussed in the Presidential Elections 2000.

Please keep in mind that space is limited --- Sign up to participate in this
historic event ASAP.

How It Works

* You must register (see below)
* In a few days we will contact many of you to participate in a 90 min
rehearsal for this event. Please check your e-mail frequently as the
invitation will be sent with short notice. This is a test of our new
technology and your feedback is highly encouraged and valued. Send your

* A majority of participants, invited to the rehearsal, will be re-invited
to rate the 90 min presidential debate at 9:00 pm EST on October 3, 2000.
You must login to the survey 15 min prior the commencement of the debate.
Latecomers will not be admitted.
* Every eligible participant who completes the rating of the debate on
October 3, 2000 and the Rehearsal Study will receive $60.00
* Eligible participants who have completed the rehearsal and were not
re-invited for the debate will receive $30.00

* All late participants will be disqualified.

Thanks for reminding me about this one. Discoverwhy.com is a great survey site, that pays through paypal. The only drawback is that the surveys are very slow on an older system or slow modem.

Just went through it; nice site - but you're right - a little slow, even at relatively (t1) high speeds on a 400 mhz machine.

I got that one in the mail too but no amount of money would get me to sit and watch the presidential debates, especially with the baseball playoffs on!!!

Got the same email yesterday, then got one one this morning telling me i was selected. $60 for 90 minutes is better than baseball. Watching paint dry is better than watching baseball.

Read on yahoo that discoverwhy is teaming with msnbc on this study and are using 750 participants from discoverwhy and juno. Guess its one or the other since i dont use juno.

I received my invite today as well..If I can only hold the thought of logging in to participate at 4PM EDT! Anyone want to give me a wake up call?

Even if we don't get picked for the 9PM survey, at least we get the $30 for the rehearsal! Not too shabby! Has anyone used paypal? Is it similiar to flooz?

Paypal isn't like flooz-it's real money! It's kind of like an internet bank account-a lot of people (including myself) use it to pay for auctions on ebay. You can e-mail money to people and receive money by e-mail from paypal. Then you can either request that they send you a check or transfer the money into your own bank account. They give you $5 just for signing up and if you sign up under another person, they get $5 too. Mine did not get cancelled, so I have no idea what those people are talking about.

The first message from a couple of days ago told me to login at 15 minutes before 9. The
one today said to wait until 11pm. any thoughts?

fineprintreader: the rehearsal begins in about 4-5 minutes! From what I understood in the email I received, after you do the rehearsal, you may be selected for participation at 9PM (actually 15 minutes prior to the beginning of it!)

I got the invite for the actual survey...no rehearsal info on it. said log in at 8:30 pm.
