Hey Gang, I am going to ask that you NOT post Black Friday lists here. The merchants aren't happy about it and we don't want to jeopardize any relationships with them. Here is a link to another site that may or may not have info you seek. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] We are not affiliated with them in ANY way. Thank you, Mayor

More than likely Herbster posted a Black Friday message thread, and was apologizing for it needing to be deleted. My wonder is where is it over the line to post deal information? Black Friday is the premier event of the shopping year and what retail operation WOULDN'T want exposure on this?? I did the majority of my XMAS shopping last year with my ultra-thanks to DOD and the posters who posted that information, it made my family (and my Dear Wallet) very happy and I hope that it continues this year... Thanks!! |

Well...at least this site got lots of publicity over the publishing of the lists. Honestly though, I believe it is a matter of free speech that you be allowed to continue to distribute this information. The stores' problem is with, I assume, their advertising companies or ad publishers whose personnel must be leaking the information in violation of some confidentiality provision. The stores should be going after the people breaching their agreements and not those further disseminating the information who have obtained the information lawfully. |

Not only is it an internal confidentiality breach, but think of it this way....suppose company "x" and company "y" are competitors in the same market (ala KMart and Wal-Mart). Company "x" plans to have a special one-time only Black Friday deal on X-Boxes at $150.00. Company "y" is planning on a similar deal, but at $175.00. If someone leaks company "x"'s information ahead of time, company "y" has the opportunity to revise their deal, lowering it to $140.00 in order to steal the business away from company "x". Given the increasingly competitive markets, especially when people are watching where every cent goes, leaking Black Friday info ahead of time can be disastrous for one store and quite beneficial for another. I can certainly understand why companies would be upset, although I think they should have tighter controls on their info! Kudos to the mayor for putting the kaibosh on it before it got out of hand. __________________ [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] |

If someone were to post the ads for this year, would anyone know where they might be published? It seems the link from last year is no longer active. Thanks ![]()
