KB Toys B&M -- 30% of $30 10/8-1014

As part of a class action settlement, KB Toys is automatically taking 30% off at the register when you purchase $30. The basis of the lawsuit was that KB Toys was indicating that items were on sale by using a fake retail price with a red line through it, followed by a lower price. No toys were actually sold at the higher price.

For those of you who want to read it, here is the legal notice:

Although this was mentioned in another thread, I think it's worthy of its own thread.

Video consoles and games are excluded.

It's worth a try. As I read the legal notice, it's in addition to any other promotion.

Also, note that I changed the title. It's starting today, at least at some stores, instead of the dates in the legal notice.

Yes, I'm just back from the mall and it is going on now. There are lots of signs about it and even some calculating the "after 30% off" price.

I got an Illustory kit, marked $19.99 for $13.99, and the Thomas train conductor's figure 8 set, marked $39.99 for $27.99. I looked at some Polly Pocket, but even with 30% off I think I can do better when they're on sale at Target. The Illustory was a good deal -- it goes for $19.99 on Amazon. I'm not so sure about the train tracks, since Amazon seems to have lots of sets for 25% off.

I just called the local KB. They said it did start today. It excludes video games, consoles and bikes. They said if something is on sale or clearance it is an additional 30% off that price!!

I just wish it includes XBOX, but I'm not complaining!

Someone should start another class action suit against them!

In response to Mina222, the awnser is NO, you cannot use your stamp thing with this offer because they have decided that they are not doing the "stamp thing" anymore, at least according to my local KB.

I am a little more than disturbed, especially since I have 3 of these cards, each needing one stamp for completion.

I think they just started this around Christmas '02 and they have already gave the program the axe and apparently do not plan to honor previously acquired cards.

I remember seeing a siqn about this a few months back as I was wandering thru the mall. They were letting you trade in the cards for some sort of discount but it was gonna end like right away. I know, I had a card with two stamps and was pretty PO'd they decided to end the program so quick!! I didn't need any more stuff at the time I saw the sign.


I went to the sale today. I still think their regular prices are high compared to Toys R Us so I only bought a couple things. Getting ready for Christmas.

I agree that KB is generally overpriced. My goal is to find the items that are priced the same at Toys R Us and then get the 30% off them. Any ideas DODers?

I highly recommend the Illustory. The child colors the pictures, you write the text that your child comes up with, then you send it in. The company typesets the words and binds it with a cover, so the child feels like a real author and illustrator. They are 19.99 at Amazon, Toys R Us and KB (before the discount).

thanks for the tip on the KB class action settlement - I live 2 miles from a KB Outlet. I made two trips today. They have alot of games marked @ $2.88 which makes them $2.02 after 30 Percent off. The Rose Art Craft kits are ringing up at $2.02 and $3.42. Lots of good deals - thanks again!!
