Anyone who wish to try flying, i.e. controlling not just riding the plane should try this. Flight schools have introductory flights wherein they let you control the plane and teach you the basics. If you're interested in flying, you might want to try contacting the local airport and finding out who does discovery flights. Here we have three different aviation companies (and I live in a small town!), so they're pretty competitive & it's only $30 for a 45 minute flight. It's a LOT of fun & I'd recommend it for anyone who even has the slightest desire (although you might get hooked )

Also, if you have a child between the ages of 8 & 17, you can send them up for a free flight sponsored by the EAA Aviation Foundation's Young Eagles program. A volunteer takes them up for a ride and the kids also get a certificate & their names entered into the World's Largest Logbook at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, WI.
