Do you have to get a "paid for rental" in order to use the kid's card? Or could the kid just use their card to get a free rental?

Hubby took DD to Blockbuster Saturday, and they only brought home her freebie, so I'm assuming you don't have to purchase another rental in order to get the kid's one for free. As stated above, though, the one stipulation is that it can't be a "new release".... which suits my DD just fine! (She can catch up on all the Mary-Kate & Ashley movies!)  |

I haven't done this, but a friend just did. She said there were rows and rows of movies to choose from, and her child was very happy with the deal. I don't rent from Blockbuster, so I didn't know this, but she said you can keep the video for one week. That's so nice you don't have to rush the video back, or make a special trip in to return it. We did this last summer too. You don't need to rent any other movies. Just go in and pick a kids movie (there are three rows at my blockbuster) go to the check out. Give them your Blockbuster card and the kids club card. They ring it up, discount it for free and off you go. My boys loved this last year. You can only have one kids club card per account so each day they took turns picking out a movie. Good thing our Blockbuster is down the street. |

I called two of the four Blockbusters here and they didn't even know what I was talking about. Wonder why they don't do it here? Are all Blockbusters independently owned maybe? |

The two different ones I go to (Meriden and West Haven) both had this last year (haven't checked yet this year). I don't think either one is privately owned... |

Picked up our card yesterday, already rented our first movie (Scooby Doo).

Our Blockbuster doesn't do this either, Sandy. The owner was in & he said that they're all independently owned so it's up to the owners if they want to participate. Get this - the owner here said he's not participating because they don't rent out very many kids movies anyway - families tend to go to the other movie places in town. When I asked him if he didn't think that maybe this was a good way to get the families into his shop, he gave me a blank stare and then said no, because he would only get 50% of the rental cost on the kids' movies from the corp office. Hmmm... isn't 50% better than 0%??? What a nitwit! Oh well - off to the indie rental place in town.
