Question I'm looking for a very odd used book~can you help me?

Title: The Autobiography of Butch Jones Y.B.I. Youngs Boys Inc.
by Canty, Raymond

I'm just taking a chance that someone here can help me because You all have worked miracles in the past! I signed up with DOD when the board first started and have loved it ever since!!! I have placed a preorder request with Amazon.com & I keep checking eBay & Half.com and I have called every book store in my state! It looks like there are 6 copies of this book at public libraries throughout the US and Canada and not a single one is anywhere near me!....SO If anyone has any idea where I might be able to purchase a used copy of this or even borrow it I would love the help! Keep up the great jobs with all the posts everyone!!!
Thanks!

That is a TOUGH one! I just spent an hour TRYING to help out, to no avail. It's a great part of Detroit history, and it's sad that it's not readily available.

I think I remember hearing a something about them making a movie about YBI sometime. I'm sure it would be very interesting.

If by chance you do find the book (multiple copies), let me know. I wouldn't mind a copy of that myself!

In the meantime, if I come across it, it's as good as yours.
Good luck!!

-Jen.

PS- One good place to check, if you live in the area would be used bookstores in the Detroit area. Maybe you could even find some stores online or through information and call them. Some may be willing to do a mail order.

Thanks! The movie is something I found out about while I was looking for the book. It seems that production was stopped I think for $$ or something. Not to mention several articles that I found that people didn't want to see that whole thing glamorized. It gives me hope just knowing that someone else knows about it! I have looked online at all the used bookstores I could find and I have sent emails to several Detroit area stores. I'll definately let you know if I find it & if I find more than one I'll pick it up and send it your way! Thanks again for helping me!

I've called around to the used book stores in my area (none to be found) and sent out emails looking for this book. I did get a reply:

Tammy:

The book you request is an out-of-print item, that was, I believe,
published in Michigan in 1996. You might have better luck trying
stores in the greater Detroit area. I don't have a copy, and the
last time someone requested this, I don't think we were able to turn one up.

I'm still looking!! I'll keep ya posted.

3tbear is welcome here
Chatter box Older books

Edward R Hamilton.com is great for older books. You can get a free subscription to their catalog on their web-site. It is in newspaper format, and is out of Falls Village Connecticut. I tried them once and have been a devotee ever since. There's no telling what you will find at any given time. They carry overstocks, new and old books. Bargain prices, all categories! If you don't see what you're looking for, perhaps you could E-mail them, I imagine they must have E-mail. Best of luck to you!
