I am looking at a digital camera for my parents. they dont need anything great but they will want to print out pictures that look decent. they dont want to spend a lot either. i am thinking the fuji film finepix 2600 zoom. i have seen it listed at $299, which may be a little more than they want to spend. it is 2.11 megapixels. anyone have any better suggestions or better deals to finding a good camera? thanks, karen

How big of pictures do they want to print out (and how good is their printer)? There are some general rules of thumb about picture size/# of pixels to get decent pictures, and of course depending on how you print them it can make a big difference. I print out pictures from my $30 jamcam3 and they look ok for some purposes, but it would probably be good to not do anything less than a 1M pixel camera, since I think that is where you can start getting decent 3X5 prints. The 1M cameras are starting to hit really-affordable, i.e., less than $100 range if that is sufficient quality. Do they need optical zoom? that costs money. Go to cnet.com and read some reviews. |

Lots of good deals for $300 or less. Here are some sites for research: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Either login above or Register Now] I have the Fuji 1400 and I love it. It's discontinued now, but still can be found on ebay at a great price. It's 1.3mp and has a 3x optical zoom. good Luck Richie |
